Feb 22, 2008 Dark brown pour with thick tan head. Aroma is chocolate and malt and not much else. Medium mouthfeel with nice, smooth finish. Taste has chocolate, dark fruit, and nutty flavor to it. Good beer.

Feb 21, 2008 Big Bottle. Pours very dark with ruby edges, medium white head, some lacing. Aroma is malty, coffee and chocolate, slight caramel. Flavor hints more toward coffee, but is subtle, and the alcohol is well hidden.

Feb 12, 2008 Draught at the SPH Brewpub. Poured an almost completely opaque black with a cream coloured head. Aroma was the expected nutty / coffee one would expect of this style. Bitter to dry flavour.

Feb 9, 2008 What a beer, I loved it. It had a black body with tan head. It was simply delightful, with a gentle chocolate taste, and somehow there was almost a little cherry taste to it.

Jan 31, 2008 very dark black body with no head. The aroma is nutty with a little coffee and a bit of an oxidized and cherry aromas. This beer is a lot lighter than I expected, but would be much better if there wasn’t this little hint of oxidation.

Jan 29, 2008 Bomber. Pours a dark amber black with small beige head. The aroma is chocolate, nuts, black cherry, a mellow sourness, some caramel and toffee. The flavor is tart fruit and caramel up front with a bit of a zing to it. Some ash and chocolate notes come out after that. The finish is like oily nuts, maybe walnuts, with a bit of a dry chocolate to it. Toasty and dry aftertaste. Pretty good.

Jan 27, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown color with good head that quickly disappears. Cocoa/molasses, coffee, and dark fruit. But really faint and tough to figure out. Taste is similar with milk stout/lacotse note. Better and more expressive at room temp. Alcohol comes in strong at the finish. Thin to medium body.
