Unusually acidic for a porter--kind of a good thing but would like a little less. Sweet flavors of chocolate, prunes, and caramel. Very bitter, burnt finish. My mouth is puckered from this beer, even though it lacked thickness and creaminess, and was thin in appearance. Good but flawed. Chapel (330), Levittown, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Updated: Feb 19, 2008Bottle. Pours the darkest red/black I’ve seen yet. Could barely see through it even when held up to a light. The medium brown head dissipates quickly. Aroma is mildly chocolaty with a strong bitter front taste that gives way to a malty chocolate after taste that leaves in a short amount of time. It feels slightly thicker than average but nothing that really makes it stand out. (Note: Rating on June 27 for a winter brew.) bp (485), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Feels a bit thin. Maverick34 (729), New York, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 4, 2007 Bottle. Pitch black in color. 1/2" tan head. Milky. Barley scent is strong, like a domestic pilsener. Surprising. Tar. Prunes. Thin, acidic, sharp, raisin-like in flavoring. The most non-porter porter I’ve ever had. Linc (736), Sydney, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 25, 2007 Warm chocolatey aroma, soft malty chocolate on the palate, a bit sweet. Mediocre body and rough finish. Stine (1381), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2007 A serious black pour. Candied cranberries and black licorice on the nose, mingling with a dark rye bourbon, toffee. Equal parts sweetness and smoke. A light but rich chocolate-hued Costa Rican coffee is foremost on the tongue. Currant-laden pinot noir in a lightning flash. A hint of honey marinated brisket, somewhat charred over oak chips. Sweet cherry cola and maple finish. Palate is rich but dies a watery death far too quickly. Refined but not entirely realized. Thanks Luis!
