Commercial Description:
Our imperial, Baltic-style porter is inspired by the strong, dark brews exported from Great Britain to Eastern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. Rich and flavorful with upfront notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee.

Sampled with stegosaurus. Pours black in color with a big tan head. Aroma of chocolate malts, caramel, and a bit of light hops. Flavor is licorice, roasted malts, coffee and some dark chocolate. Good but not great.

for someone who isn’t crazy about porters I seem to buy an awful lot of them. deep garnet-brown body with a small milk chocolate head. smells strongly of alcohol and roasted malts. tastes of strong alcohol roast, malts, chocolate, finishes sweet, like brown sugar. overall palate is a bit filled. not thick but has substance. hard to describe. not bad for a porter. more alcohol taste than more recent porters I’ve tried which I like because I think its balanced with other flavors well.

Blind tasting at sk8vikings porter / stout tasting, beer no 3. Pours dark brown with little brown rim. Aroma is roasted malty with alcohol note. Flavour is dark roasted malty with a distinct alcohol note. Fairly simple with a medium body. 6-4-6-3-12 3.1

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of pineypower. Dark brown with a warm, reddish hue and a creamy beige head that leaves a pretty lacework. Sweet aroma of roasted malt and prunes? Medium body with sweet, roasted malts, licorice, some dried fruit - prunes in particular - and absolutely no bitterness. Nice. Perhaps more of a Baltic Porter really. 060407 and 070907

NorCal tasting Apr 07 - Yowza!! What do we have here!! What an awesome beer!!! Now this is what I wish more brewers would do with their Baltic Porters. Make it so it’s refined, clean and smooth yet still pack a serious punch. Aroma is dark fruit, caramel, toffee, baker’s chocolate with some underlying smoke. Appearance is perfect. Flavors were intense, yet smooth enough to not be overpowering. Any more and it would have been a ragged stout and any less unrefined. Dark fruit, baker’s chocolate, roasted malts, and toffee with just enough of a subtle hop kick to remind you it’s there. Nice job and highly recommended.
