Reasonable raisin and fig aroma followed by a nice flavorful imperial porter. The palate was rather plain though and for some reason despite it being good I was left unsatisfied. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 8, 2007 22oz bomber, no date--however it does say XXII Reserve on the neck, if that means anything to anyone. Sits black in my glass with a 1/2 finger quickly fading dark beige head. First aromas are caramel and toffee, some roast and chocolate, but it is all sweet--no bitterness. Flavor is again caramel and toffee followed by a bit of char and roast. Semidry finish with some char and roast again finishing out. This seems very English to me (not good or bad, it just is). Medium bodied with minimal carbonation. Nothing phenomenal here as far as Baltic porters go, but a good beer overall. Not terribly complex, but the flavors are good and go well together. Thanks to Dan jah noth for this one. skibumphishead (180), USA
