Nice pretty porter that really I would have guessed a stout in a blind test. I’ll explain that away with the "Imperial" title.
Roasty, malty sweet and while thin for a bigger brew, very easy to drink. Great winter beer great for the cold night style drink. Fish (439), Kure, Japan

Usually the sweeter, darker brews are not my style; but this a special case. I thoroughly enjoyed this break from the hoppiness of the two Stone IPAs Ross sent my way. Light carbonation, minimal head. Very sweet, chcolate, and caramel. Very little bitter. Something about the way the alcohol and malts meshed, though, was really spectacular. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve had a better porter. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA

Aroma of caramel, roasted malts, and some esters, plumish; but light. Flavor of some roast and fuityness, mainly plum. Very thin and flavor is not as complex as I would like for an imperial porter. Good but thicker would be better. 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 24, 2006 Pours dark, nice light brown head. Aroma is caramel, roasty, but a bit weak. Flavor is pretty roasty, some fruitiness, hops, but not as strong as I had hoped. A good beer, nice body, but missing that extra bit to take it to the next level. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA

Pours a near black with a very small tan head. Aroma of licorice, anise, bourban, fruity esters, and a little coffee and chocolate. Some alcohol burn and a little roastiness in the finish. Tastes like it smells. Reminds of a good dopplebock with a little coffee & chocolate thrown in. Thin body is the only big negative here. Very good beer. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 13, 2006 Smells like truffels. Tastes like burnt hot bitter sweet chocolate; thin for a porter with a dry finish. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA

Not much flavor up front, but finishes really nicely, smoke and bitter roastiness, similar to burnt wood. Some hoppy bite at the end as well. Regrettably thin. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
