Sep 27, 2006 Brown colour with red along the edges, but still quite opaque. There was a nice tan head on top. I’m not sure what to think about the aroma, there was some chcoclate and what I felt was a faint roasted coffee. A hint of smoke in the flavour that kind of surprised me a bit, there is definatly some chocolate flavours. In a way, this has some alcohol warmth to it despite the fact the alcohol is comletly hidden in the flavour. The palate is nice and chewey with n ability tolinger on your tongue.

Sep 26, 2006 There is a nice port & wine aroma to this beer. Flavor is simple chocolate and roastedd malt. Rich and heavy, but I am not getting any "baltic porter" from this well made beer. There is a dry, tannic aftertaste. The alcohol is well hidden in the aroma and flavor.

Sep 17, 2006 Awesome! This imperial porter has a nice dry-medium malty finish with coffee and nutty flavors within a low carbonated roasty pool of lushishness. There is some creaminess but not enough to turn it into a stout. It has a root beer-like appearance. The alcohol is well hidden.

Sep 14, 2006 Dry, sweet and smokey, this is one tasty porter. The pour is dark brown with a clear body. Very little head. The nose is strong displaying molasses, raosted malts, caramel, celery, rasin, toffee, smoke and port. There are hints of brown sugar and tobacco as well. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Average carbonation in a medium body. The finish is bitter. a little thin and watery in the texture, but overall very enjoyable.

Sep 11, 2006 Very dark brown pour with small foamy tan head. Aroma of light roasted chocolate malts. Flavor is nice and rich... chocolate, roast, hints of coffee. Very enjoyable.

Sep 9, 2006 2005 Bottle: Mostly black pour with deep ruby highlights - no real head. Light, roasty nose is a nice intro the heavily malted body. Lots of coffee, smokey woods and dark chocolate mix well with light pipe tobacco. Great mouthfeel taboot. A real nice effort.

Aug 23, 2006 Smoke, coffee, cocoa, roasted grains, brown sugar, licorice, alcohol and other flavors are all in here. There’s even some hops hiding around the corners if you look hard enough. While all these flavors are here, nothing really stands out. It’s like you have to look for them to find them, otherwise the beer just sits there not tasting like much. It just doesn’t pop like a beer with this complexity should. I’m not sure what’s missing. Maybe it’s the mouthfeel just isn’t heavy enough. It’s certainly there, but a beer like this should be really dense, and this just isn’t. Oh well, I’ll just have to stick to Flying Dog’s Gonzo.
