| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2006 Deep brown color, almost black, minimal brown head that didn’t last all that long, no lacing around the glass, huge aroma, very easy to get a nose full of of coffee, roasted malt, alcohol and almonds, thinner than expected body, a tad watery, slight bitterness to the flavor with notes of expresso, yeast, toasted grains and cookie dough, long-lasting aftertaste with a slight hoppy tone with more notes of coffee and alcohol, the flavors really pushed the score up, but I still think the beer itself is a bit watery and thin, but overall a very good porter

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 29, 2006 This "imperial" porter smells very dry, like an ale, & I’d have to say there isn’t much "imperial" about it, other than the fact that its alcohol content is a <!-- em -->tad<!-- /em --> higher than most. <!-- br --><!-- br -->
Its light beige head diminishes quickly, & it tastes very ale-y, not thick; not hoppy; pure porter all the way. It’s very light on the tonge, with little to no aftertaste, & malty, but with a clean finish. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2006 Bought at the brewery, smuggled safely home wrapped in Ernest’s dirty socks. Now that’s love. It was worth the effort. Beer is a nearly opaque, very dark brown color with a small, light brown, frothy/creamy, mostly lasting head. The aroma is malty-plushylishious: moderate-to-heavy note of roasted grain, moderate note of caramel, light notes of molasses and chocolate; low herbal hop; yeasty with moderately weighty notes of dough and tangy sharp cheese, light note of damp basement. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly-to-moderately acidic and trace bitter with a long, moderately acidic, lightly sweet finish. The body is medium, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is softer-than-average. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2006 Starts off with some smoky flavors and a little bit of cherry, reminded me of a winter warmer. Then it faded into a nice roasted chocolate flavor, and finished with a little more smokiness. Body was smooth, a little creamy. Everything about it was great in my opinion, a great entry in one of my favorite styles. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2006 i’ve tasted two markedly different bottles of this one - one with a lot of lactic sourness and the other sweetish. anyways they both were pretty black with a beige head. aroma of ashtray, stewed fruit, tar, cocoa and a bit of banana. tasted of cocoa powder stirred into ribena and cherry syrup with not much sign of alcohol and a light woodiness. quite dry and drinkable
