May 8, 2006 Very chocolatey, some coffee and cream, sliky smooth. This is a delicious beer that tastes like a dessert. Really good stuff, I hope to try more.

May 7, 2006 Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & tupalev - courtesy of tupalev. Ruby-brown colour with a dirty tan head. Aroma is mild and slightly stale, with an odd combination of roast and sour notes. Body is thin, especially for a so-called "Imperial". Flavour is fairly sweet, with notes of dark caramel and molasses, and a nice roasty finish. Not too bad, but a bit disappointing.

Apr 29, 2006 Bottle. Coffee dark choc aroma - standard. Forest edge musk -- algae pond-head. Semisweet bitter dark chocolate flavor. Lagery yuck flavor too. Stale budds. laces nicely. Ashes. Flavor gets continually worse as I have to finish over a pint of it. Bleah.

Apr 25, 2006 22 oz. Pours a very dark brown/light black with a medium long lasting tan/light brown head. Aroma seems a bit light with some sweet malt, roast, slightly plummy, Taste is of roasted and slight chocolate malt, fruit. The body really is thin on this.

Apr 21, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours dark brown with an average size diminishing off-white head. Mild aroma of caramel malt, some chocolate and dark fruit. Flavour of dark malt, dark fruit, tart cherries and dark chocolate. Thin bodied. As an "Imperial Porter" it’s not very succesful but as a "Baltic Porter" as it’s categorized here it’s much more spot-on. I expected better but it was still enjoyable.

Apr 20, 2006 My bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, and gregClow. Thin, very dark ruby red, thin slick off-white head. Mild aroma - tart, sweet, and syrupy. Nice taste - syrupy, a little thin, cola syrup. What’s imperial about this? Simple decent porter that improves as it warms, but maybe it just didn’t transfer well to the bottle or something. Ok.

Apr 19, 2006 22oz. bottle. I guess this one is "imperial" according to its abv because otherwise it just seems like a particularly pleasant dry porter. The pour is dark but translucent brown with a nut coloured head. There are notes of toffee, chicory, unsweetened cocoa, and a hint of smoke. The beer is not terribly heavy weight, though clearly a bit more dense than a standard porter. There is a nice little hop zing on the finish that helps round the beer out.

Apr 19, 2006 Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and tupalev - tupalev’s bottle. Opaque dark brown with a smallish tan head. Roasty oily nutty malt, some hops, a bit molasses-sweet. Taste is a little blackstrap molasses, dark malt, nut oils, tart cherry ... pretty nice. Mouthfeel is thick, syrupy, sort of flat, a little alcoholic - I really enjoyed this, better as it warmed but it’s a little syrupy.
