22 oz bomber. Appropriately black with a thick tan fine-laced head. Sweet aroma of plums, toasted nuts, dark chocolate and malted milk. Very rich smelling, no roast, just loads of dark chocolate malt aroma. Flavour is similar to the aroma. Sweet creamy palate, with chocolate, toast and nuts. Lots of dark grains and some plummy/pruny fruitiness. No astringency. Very smooth and well-balanced beer. As it warms some other lighter fruits seem to come forth, raisin and caramel. A bit of pepper but not too hot. Very tasty brew.

Bottle on 12/13/2008 labelled as XXII Reserve. Clear dark black body with ruby highlights and a thin frothy tan head that quicky dissipates. Sweet light roast, chocolate and fruity aroma. Sweet chocolate, molassas, rum-soaked fruit, and light caramel flavor with some light roasty hints. Medium body with moderately low carbonation. 8/5/8/3/15 - 3.9 03/30/2006: Dark deep mohogany color with a thin fully diminishing creamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate and some light astringency. Sweet caramel flavor with some chocolate and bitterness. 7/5/8/3/16 - 3.9

This was a second beer enjoyed at a birthday party for friends at the Capital Ale House in Richmond , Va. This is great porter. It was full of malt aroma and hints of choclate and toffee. It is a very balanced porter that is a special drink.

my chemical mouth clashes with the fullness of this beer it tastes like starbucks frothy drink. sure its fine not too impressed.

well fist of all im dusted off that leak son but this beer tastes burnt and acidic. smells like bud light or keystone or something. it looks cool coffee dark sexy beige head. i have no desire to drink this ever again.

Pours a wonderful pitch, with a large tan head and good lacing. Aroma is very chocolatey, some maple and mild fruit in there as well. Flavor is initially citric hops, followed by a dark, roasted malt backbone, turning to coffee and bakers chocolate. A very dry porter. A nice example of an Imperial porter, though not necessarily waht comes to mind when I think of the Baltic variety. Very good. Thanks, Lou.

Poured dark brown with ruby highlights. Off-white/light brown head. Aroma roasty, nutty with hints of coffee. Flavor of malts, nuts with hints of caramel and toffee, and bready notes. As it warmed more bread present in the aroma, and a sweet caramel/toffee aftertaste. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied.

Typical dark brown porter appearance. Tan head was small with little lacing. Roasted chocolate malt aroma with hints of dark fruit and espresso. Smooth, medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel with just the right touch of carbonation. Malts, along with some spicyness, dominate the taste with chocolate and coffee front and center. Faintly hoppy aftertaste. Fairly dry, long lasting finish.
