Aroma is very chocolatey, some maple and mild fruit in there as well. Flavor is initially citric hops, followed by a dark, roasted malt backbone, turning to coffee and bakers chocolate. A very dry porter. A nice example of an Imperial porter, though not necessarily waht comes to mind when I think of the Baltic variety. Very good. Thanks, Lou. SB (318), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured dark brown with ruby highlights. Off-white/light brown head. Aroma roasty, nutty with hints of coffee. Flavor of malts, nuts with hints of caramel and toffee, and bready notes. As it warmed more bread present in the aroma, and a sweet caramel/toffee aftertaste. Smooth, velvety mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied. guzzler67 (1288), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 9, 2006 Typical dark brown porter appearance. Tan head was small with little lacing. Roasted chocolate malt aroma with hints of dark fruit and espresso. Smooth, medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel with just the right touch of carbonation. Malts, along with some spicyness, dominate the taste with chocolate and coffee front and center. Faintly hoppy aftertaste. Fairly dry, long lasting finish. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2006 22 oz bottle, from Eyedrinkale - thanks Mike! Pours dark ebony, with a small beige head that dissapates quickly to a thin ring and big spots of lace. Dark roasted malts in the aroma, dark chocolate, grass, herba character hint of brown sugar. Rich, sweet fudgey malts, molasses, floral / herbal hop flavors, some alcohol noticible but well balanced with the bold flavors. Smooth, full body and velvety on the tongue. Quite nice! desurfer (1068), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2006 Pours an oily black with a thin ring of tan foam on top. Aroma is mild, slighty bitter with a touch of vanilla. Flavor is solid and roasty but not to intense, with a nice balance of hops as well as some coffee and chocolate notes. Nice beer. jdjuice (203), Japan
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2006 I’m not feeling this too much. Not as smooth as I would expect, kind of high in carbonation with a pronounced coffee derived bitterness. I might be biased however after having a similar brew to this that was pretty disgusting and I’m permanently traumatized against anything that’s dark and very coffee-y. alaskanwarren (286), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 6, 2006 Oh man. This is incredible stuff. Aromas very oaked and chocolate. Somewhat like a dry red wine. It pours very dark brown with a tan head that didn’t stick around. Flavors abound with chocolate and oak. A bit of vanilla and some sweet finish - almost strawberries a bit. Mm.... I really really like this porter. It’s super smooth and very approachable. Serve this to someone who loves dark chocolate but says they don’t like beer. Amazing. Thanks to JHop who sent this to me. beeryum (652), Norcross, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 6, 2006 Bottle. Mahagony brown pour, decent head. Sweet caramel malty aroma and flavor, with good amounts of chocolate and some bread and figs and other medium fruit. Touch of smoke. Moderate body, not as thick as some other imperial porters. Very good.
