Outstandingly well balanced, not to bitter, not to sweet, not too complex, not too anything...just right! Smokey, nutty, chocolaty, coffee like. If anything negative is to be said for this beer is that it’s just slightly, and I do mean slightly watery. If it were just a touch bigger, it would be damn near perfection! Pours a yelowish head with a deep near opaque body. Nose and flavour of shredded Belgian chocolate and coffee grounds with a mild vanilla. The finish was slightly bitter and lactic. Good but not my favourite from this brewery. Thank Luc! badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Black color with no head. A little maple for the aroma. Taste is heavy on malt and a tad sweet with a little salt on the finish. Good drinkability, but I was hoping for a more knock-your-socks-off experience. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 28, 2006 Bottle. Aroma of chocolate mocha, roast malts. Poured an incredibly dark brown almost opaque with a nice healthy chocolate head. Flavor was yummy, chocolate, vanilla and what I detect as hazlenut. Palate was nice and smooth and danced accross the taste buds nicely. Overall this was just damn tasty. Lubiere (4551), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2006 Deep dark black with a very thin off white head and mauvish hues. Light chocolate moka aroma with roasted coffee notes. In mouth, rich smooth chocolate and vanilla, light roasted nuts and a good staying mouthfeel, with some lingering chocolate bitterness. Yahoo! Bought at Beers of the World, Feb. 2006. Enjoyed with Capflu on Feb. 18, 2006. jgeiman (25), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 23, 2006 22 oz. Bottle: Oil black opaque color with a thin off-white head and minimal lacing. At first pour, the aroma is sour + milky, reminiscent of mixed berry yogurt. After warming up a little, some sweeter notes come in. Taste is initially sweet, though body is a bit flat and watery- feels like it should be bigger. Charcoal end finishes with a slight sour aftertase. I want more hops. thornecb (1810), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 23, 2006 Pours a deep brown/black into a tulip. Very little carbonation. Deep porter malt aromas - - chocolatey. Fizzy with a sweet chocolate finish -- that then turns mildly bitter. Very interesting -- almost like a porter/stout instead of a standalone in either category. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
