Commercial Description:
Our imperial, Baltic-style porter is inspired by the strong, dark brews exported from Great Britain to Eastern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. Rich and flavorful with upfront notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee.

Bottle. Thanks to BBB63 at the Indy Circle City Samplers rate party. Pours black with a red tint. Big creamy off white head. Aroma is roasty with strong chocolate noted. Malty flavor gives way to chocolate with a coffee finish. Medium to full mouthfeel. I would like to see this with a higher ABV.

Pitch black, fizzy brown head. Dominating bread aroma with a roasted note and plenty of chocolate. Not very full but well balanced. Mild chocolaty flavor with some bitterness, Flat oily mouthfeel. Roasted notes. Not bad, but a little more power would suit it.

This Baltic Porter pours a dark black color from a 22oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate, some hops and some smoke. A medium to full bodied Imperial Porter. Malts are chocolate with a touch of coffee. Very nice balance. Very smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with some chocolate.

Courtesy of Afterexile. <P> I didn’t expect an authentic Baltic Porter smell, but this has it. Aroma has that sweet malty/alcohol mix with lots of chocolate notes. Black with a decent, but short lived mocha head. Lots of raisin and powdered chocolate in the fore...a bit of sweet malt and cocoa in the finish. Very tasty, but not as complex as I had hoped for.

Pours black with a tan head that fades. Aroma is of sweet dark malts, chocolate, and sweet cinnamon. Flavor is sweet vanillla, slight chocolate, mild edgeless roast, and cinnamon.. The palate is distractingly thin.

Bottle marked XXII Resereve, courtesy of ClarkVV. Thank you!
Aroma from malts, and a hint of hops. Quite dusty aroma with toasted bread character. Very full bodied. Some dark fruits, acidity and roasted malts initially in taste followed by chocolatey mouthfeel (grainy) and a kick of the alcohol. Not too much though, as it should be in Baltic Porter. Not too sweet either. Very good balance.

Tasted on bottle at pizza port’s strong ale fest. One of my first imperial porters. A nice play of hops against smoke with a big heavy mouth. Strong dark chocolate notes.

Bottle at RBESG grand tasting. An interesting take on the Baltic porter style. I don’t know whether it was all the heavy doppelbocks I’d been drinking just before but I couldn’t help finding some parallels in the styles. Very dark brown with just a tinge of ruby. Heavy mouthfeel - more oily than tarry. Molasses, raisins, loads of licorice, burnt malt and some slightly sour balsamic vinegar type notes. Intriguing, but just a touch sticky for my taste.
