Commercial Description:
Our imperial, Baltic-style porter is inspired by the strong, dark brews exported from Great Britain to Eastern Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries. Rich and flavorful with upfront notes of chocolate, caramel and toffee.

Bottle purchased in 2006 from Somerville Super Saver. Pours a deep brown with a creamy tan head the diminishes to a ring. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, molasses, and raisin. Medium bodied, but with a smooth milky texture. Flavor of wet seeping grains, caramel, nuts, and cocoa. Hops have faded in this one bringing out more the malt nuances. Finish is just a slight hint of cardboard oxidation as it gets closer to room temp. It definitely has some of that Baltic porter lager and alcohol characteristic on the finish. Not bad, but not enticing enough to buy again.

Bottle at Sune’s. Clear dark mahogany - offwhite head. Dark bread, roasted, licorice, caramel, light butter scotch, light diacetyl, high malty.... where are all the hop taste & flavor. Thin body and finish.

On tap at Rattle n Hum. Foamy, sculpted head. Sweet to start, with coffee, fresh hop, and herbal flavors coming into play, closing with an enjoyable tingle. Very tasty, but unusual for a porter. The malty sweetness comes close to being excessive.

Deep almost pitch black body with almost no head at all. Aroma of vanilla, oak, raisins, oatmeal and some nice sugars. Light-bodied; Short malty flavour lined with sugars and vanilla and some good flavours. Aftertaste shows the vanilla and roasted malt characteristics with little else. Overall, a great tasting bottle with a good amount of sugars. I sampled this bottle purchased by Phil (haddon90) at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 25-December-2005.

On tap at Blind Tiger in NYC! A- Mostly black hue, thin off-white head dissipates, minimal lacing S- Bitter hops and alcohol, some roast and coffee malts, somewhat subdued T- Initial taste follows the aroma, mild hops mixed with roast and coffee malts, finishes slightly dried, underwhelming M- Medium-bodied, watery smooth texture, mild carbonation D- Middling porter with poor hop presence and mouthfeel, lacking in any sort of bold flavors, would not get again

Bottle shared by Hopsleeroy. Thanks man! Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Smell is ashy malt and charred coffee, and caramel. Taste is slightly sweet with caramel and roasty malt. A touch of Dark fruit and medium bodied with normal carbonation. Decent, but unremarkable.

Dark mahogany color with a moderate light brown head. Sweet, chocolate, toffee, and caramel aroma. Less sweet than expected and very complex. Very nice consistency and clean finish. This is not something I thought I’d like but was very surprised.

Brazil nut shells and iced toddy on the nose. Very nice nuttiness and toasted bread flavor. Good, creamy mouthfeel.
