pours a thick black with subtle ruby hi-lights. thick tan head retains well and leaves good lace. lots of chocolate and malt aromas, with restrained note of alcohol. balanced flavor again emphasizes the chocolate in the malt character. clean finish with some alcoholic warmth. very smooth and creamy.

Dec 21, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Barley and Hops in Bethel Park. Pours a pure black color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet chocolates, malty and milky. A smooth flavor; milky chocolates, toasted malts, a medium body. nutty and smooth. Nice.

Dec 10, 2009 For a long time this was my go to dark beer. Great price and great beer. Well balanced, leaning toward the sweeter side, nice and creamy and sugary with a hint of roasted malts. Goes really well with smores.

Nov 22, 2009 Very dark, not much of a head. Nose is peppery, with cocoa and coffee. Palate is nice, a bit oily, dark chocolate, lots of malt on this, but still maintains some balance, decent, not as nice as a baltic, but very drinkable.

Nov 21, 2009 Dark brown-red with a thin cream head. Heavy malt nose with pine and licorice as backing. Flavor is similar, strong chocolate malt with light plum and faint cream, roast bitterness following through in the finish. Thick, sticky body. Pretty good, though not showing much complexity.
