MaltOMeal (642), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Oct 30, 2009 bottle. Shared this at the Houston RB Tasting in October. Pours black with a nice, tan head. Nose is of coffee and sour chocolate milk. Taste is of coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy with alcohol noticeable. This one is still too hot. Needs at least another six months of age on it. While decent, I was kinda disappointed. It was not up to the top-50 rating, IMO. ericandersnavy (1038), crossroads, Texas, USA Oct 24, 2009 bottle thanks to maltomeal. poured black with a copper head. aroma of caramel, dark roast, anise, and vinous notes with the flavor being the same. bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Oct 18, 2009 Bottle thanks to Maltomeal. Dead black with a nice small brown head. Extremely aromatic, roasty, licorice, alcohol, chocolate. Taste is very alcoholic, syrupy, chocolately, burnt-complex. Thick lucious palate-nice sipper and well done. Cavie (1289), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Oct 18, 2009 Bottle courtesy of MaltOMeal. Dark dark malty aroma with coffee beans. Flavor has a nice chocolate touch that remains decent. Taste has a dark bitter feeling to it without the greatest finish. nickd717 (1265), Palo Alto, California, USA Oct 3, 2009 2008 bottle via trade thanks to badbeer on BA. Pours jet black and fairly thick with a small tan head and good lacing. Aroma is roast, coffee, licorice, and some dark fruit. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a little anise. Very good and well-balanced. A little on the less sweet side for an imperial stout. Silky smooth on the palate with medium full body and a little alcohol warmth. Pretty drinkable for an imperial stout. Gypsy19 (601), California, USA Sep 29, 2009 Shared by unknown beer angel at RBSG GT. Pours a thick black with just a small head. Aroma is of dark fruit, coffee, chocolate. Flavor repeats this theme. Nice soft palate, rich classy mouthfeel. Overall, world class minus. danielcurtis81 (868), San Diego, California, USA Sep 26, 2009 Served from the bottle, 2008 vintage. Acquired via trade with ygtbsm94. Appearance is a flowing deep cola brown with no head. The aromas and flavors are rich roasted malts, smoked sausage, molasses, dark chocolate. Mouth is mildly carbonated and full bodied. An excellent brew that would only improve with age. awiseman01 (318), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Sep 26, 2009 Bottle, special thanks to danielcurtis81 for sharing on the eve of his wedding. Pours pitch black with thin fading beige head. Nose is rich molasses and raisins. Flavor is smooth, semi-thick, creamy dark chocolate/roasted malt, more molasses, hints of brown sugar and dark red fruit. Excellent complexion, this is truly magnificent.
