Ofortuna (266), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA May 10, 2008 2008 batch from Dark Lord Day. Popped open with quite of bit of foaming. Poured overly carbonated and I knew something was wrong. We kept pouring and it kept frothing. A bit of funk and lemon on the aroma with a deep layer of coffee and roasted specialty malt tossed in. I’m guessing infected here. Some nice creamy/lactose tones and bits of dark chocolate and nutmeg sprinkled on top. Thinner mouthfeel and body, but still with an intensity to what must have been. I must try this again as it was quite a shell of its former self. Very sad and disappointed. MaliMisho (208), East Meadow, New York, USA Apr 22, 2008 My 200th beer!! I saved this one for good reason to be my 200th rating. It was great. It looked like motor oil with dark brown head. I loved it. Dough77 (708), Aurora, Illinois, USA Apr 21, 2008 Like the Abyss part two I felt. Big chocolate roast. Some burnt dark roasted malt flavors. Pour was georgous, huge creamy tan head, black body...sexy. Some nice coffee notes, but nothing overwhelming. Creamy smooth with a bit of hop bite around the edges. padrefan98 (499), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Apr 20, 2008 Bottle thanks to dmac. Shared with the EC crew. Nice flavors of roasted malts, and mild bitter chocolate. Very little coffee bean. Some hops. Pretty darn good. toncatcher (184), Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA Apr 18, 2008 Bottle form Padrefan98 the night the Pads went 22 innings with the Rockies. Pours black with a creamy tan head. I would agree with Fordest, not the aroma I had been expecting, roasted malt and a wisp of chocolate and some dark fruits. Flovors were roasted malt and some chocolate. Bitter finish.
