Backlog: Okay, so I’ve had a few bottles of this, and I can’t say that I am amazingly impressed by the 2008 release of this beer. Aroma is coffee with some chocolate, rich and decadent. Taste is more coffee and sweet chocolate with some ripe red fruit. I don’t know what it is, but something feels lacking. *frown* I need to try this on draft.

On draft at Capones. Poured black with a medium sized brown head. Aroma of coffee and sweet chocolate. Tastes of fresh roasted coffee, nice sweet chocolate with a creamy mouth feel and great body. The alcohol is hidden quite well and from the 1st sip to the last of it, this was everything I was hoping it could be.

On draft @ Capones with Mad_indian. Pours deepbrown, almost black with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate malts, roast, coffee, and alcohol. The flavor is smooth, sweet chocolate, roast, coffee, and and good alcohol presence (but well masked). Excellent body and mouthfeel. Great brew.

On tap at Capones sampled with Stegosaurus . Ok this was the show stopper. Everything I love about Imperial stouts Coffee, roast malt, chocolate and alcohol all blended together perfectly. Best beer of the night.

Draft at Capone’s. Deep brown color, opaque. Medium head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts, as well as some figs and plums. Complex and rich with a nearly heavy body.

Thanks to xmarcnolanx for a bottle and Matt Capone for getting this one in on tap! Rating is for the draft version. Pours a beautiful black with a small head. Aroma is thick and roasty with chocolate, smoke, cherry, and coffee. Flavor is reminiscent of Ten-Fidy but better! Lots of chocolate, coffee and roasty malts. Damn this is good! Mouthfeel is wonderful and the finish is fine. Southampton needs to make this more often!

Draft at Capone’s: pours a thick, dark black with a little bit of tan head, aroma of coffee and malt, taste is malty and some slight bitter coffee flavor, fairly full mouthfeel. Very nice Impy and glad I got a chance to try it.
