Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Alraomon. Pours a copper color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Very bready aroma with buttery notes and faint hops. Assertive hop taste with big citrus and pine notes, as well as a grainy bready malt finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle @ Cock & Bull. Clear amber-gold with big billowy pillow of a white head and lots of lacing. Very mild aroma reminds me of a lager. Is more subtle than expected and boring. Smooth low carbonation. Nice bitter aftertaste, lots of English character, earthy, herbal, and dry and corresponds well with the nose. Mild white pepper and leafy hop finish. Sessionable enough.

Bottle: pours dark amber with a thin frothy white head, aroma of citrus and hops, taste is malty up front, hops and bitterness come through in the finish.

12oz bottle. Pours a see through, light orange body with a thin, fizzy, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a light lacing. Faint aroma of grassy hops and sharp citrus. Light caramel malts as well. Flavor is a good amount of harsh grassy hops. A little bit of sweet malts attempt to balance this out, but doesn’t quite get there. Salty, dry, and grassy finish that doesn’t linger as long as I expected. Palate is light to medium bodied and oily. Overall, a decent IPA with a good amount of bitterness, but it lacks a solid malt backing. Not bad, but subpar IMO.

Soapy, grassy aroma. Little hop flavor detectable...harsh bitter finish that lingers. not really an impressive IPA by any standard.
