Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

The aroma is very hoppy with a citrus and grassy hops. The malt is there as is the nutty yeast. The appearance is light amber with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall it’s good.

not too pleasant on the aroma front, the beer its self seems to be lacking all of the good quality which me a outstanding IPA. malts seem a bit astringent and slightly tangy.

Served with a light, off-white head and some lace. Color is a nice, clear, medium dark amber. Flavor is like the nose: malty, toffee, caramel, burnt sugar, and earthy hops. Pretty good beer. A different IPA than a lot of the American micros. Nice hop/burnt sugar finish. Could be a session if you’re up for those kinds of flavors.

Grassy, herbal hop aroma. Biscuit and grains also in the nose. Piney, bitter hop overtones and a pleasant malty sweet backbone. Hops linger after the swallow. I like this one.

Not much taste with this one. It was number 24 on my beerfest track. Looking forward to try the double white ale.

Dark amber pour with fluffy tan head. Malty aroma. Caramel flavor with some piney hops.

Nice drawing on the label of an old wooden brewery. Cloudy brass-light brown pour with a little foam and sheetlike lacing. Juicy aroma of pine/floral hops and a bit of yeast, grain, and lemon. Somewhat sharp and dry hoppy flavor, bready and crisp. Are those Cascade hops taking charge there? There is definitely a West Coast influence. This tastes more like a strong PA or an American PA than an IPA. There is a slightly acidic, baking soda-like flavor, and tingly carbonation. Very nice.

Aroma has an off aspect to it,the aroma is almost perfumey,in a flowery type of way, I have smelled this in other IPA’s most often Anchor Liberty, its almost like a fake hop aroma is added, taste is fine, hops are still flowery, plenty of bitterness, not much caramel thanks Ubeamartian
