Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

Aroma has an off aspect to it,the aroma is almost perfumey,in a flowery type of way, I have smelled this in other IPA’s most often Anchor Liberty, its almost like a fake hop aroma is added, taste is fine, hops are still flowery, plenty of bitterness, not much caramel thanks Ubeamartian

Pours amber with a white top. Smells of caramel, malt, pine and hops. Bitter flavor with a subtle sweetness. Smooth finish.

bottle from 3 Sons. Really nice for my favorite type. Balanced hops if not enough florals, modest head, amber color. Not much malt and alt the high end for tolerable carbonation

Something in the flavor put me off. It had a soapy taste to it. It wasn’t my glass because I never wash it. Not a big hop presence though. Mostly sweet malt. About average.

Pours out a slightly coppery golden color with a small to moderate off white head. Aroma is of some citrus and slight malt, but not much aroma going on there. Taste is of citrus hops, caramel, some earthy notes and a bitter hop finish. A solid IPA, but thats about all

[1588-20080816] 355mL bottle. Light floral hops aroma has a bit of grain alcohol. Clear, orange amber body with a quick creamy off-white head. Grainy alcohol yeast flavour has a little bitter hops. Medium body. Not bad.

12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Hazy caramel with flat head and lace. Toasted biscuity malt and mildly funky aroma. Mildly sweet fruity flavor with caramel and toated malt flavor followed by medium hop bitterness. Medium body and carbo. Decent enough.

Bottle @ Coles IPA Tasting. Pours a rather plain light golden orange. Aroma was mildy hopped, some malts & english tea. Taste was balanced, mild but overall lacking in hop flavor.
