| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2008 (Bottle). Very mild aroma, vaguely sweet citrus. Beautiful orange amber color. As for the flavor....just as claimed by Southampton, this is an IPA that goes light on the hops bitterness. Instead, there’s a nicely balanced citrus bite, mostly orange peel, and a piney envelope. The finish, as well, is on the mild side. Very pleasant. Damico (198), Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2008 I liked this IPA because it had a subtle balance of hops aftertaste without being very bitter. It also has a nice amber-red color to it with a clean head. MrBunn (1562), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep amber with a bit of a head that dies down as I sit and think about all of this. Aromas are mild for an IPA... a bit of citrus and that’s about it. Hops pick it up a notch or two in the flavor... there is a nice and prickly pine presence, yet a fairly well developed caramel mlt backbone to make it a little more English. islay (481), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2008 4 oz. sample, on tap at the brewpub. Consumed on 7-31-08. Sparkling, orange-tinted light copper. Good lacing. Nice, strong, citrus-hoppy aroma features orange scent. Orange dominates the flavor as well. The flavor also features a touch of cream, making Southampton IPA taste like a beer version of an Orange Julius. Medium to full body. Pleasant but unremarkable palate effects. I really enjoyed this beer. Sparky27 (1642), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Bomber courtesy of Santa, aka yobdoog. Pours a hazy amber with 2 finger beige head and great lacing. Nose is pine, grass and malt. Taste is much the same with a slight bitter finish that lingers for awhile. Medium mouth feel. Definitely an milder East Coast IPA, but a nice and drinkable. Thanks Trevor! Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2008 Poured from a 12 oz. bottle a nice amber or dark orange color with a full head. I am hardly ever disapointed with Southhampton’s brews and I wasn’t here. It was quite hoppy with a hint of citrus yet balanced as a malt backbone came through. It had some punch for a ’normal’ IPA. What’s that in America anymore? iowaherkeye (1890), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 14, 2008 12oz bottle, no date from riversideAK, thank you sir! Clear burnt orange with a one finger off-white head that lasted a minute before fading to a ring. This isn’t terribly cold, but I’m not getting a whole helluva lot out of the aroma. That said, I’m picking up on some resiny pine and earthy caramel malts. Flavor had a bit more sweet caramel than the aroma led on. Bitterness peaked around a 3 in the semi-dry finish. Light creamy carbonation with a medium body. Pretty boring--yes, it may be an IPA, but that’s about it.
