Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

12 oz. bottle. Pours a light orange gold with pretty big head. Smells of sweet corn, floral hops, caramel. Definitely a balanced beer, hops present throughout but more prominent on the finish, malts detectable. This is a good beer but nothing special. Very drinkable, would make a good session beer.

A golden brown beer with a small head. The aroma is malty like a British IPA. The taste is caramel with some mild hop taste that is definitely leaning towards the British side.

bottle - Pours clear copper with a one finger head. It has a hoppy aroma with citrus and pine notes. The balance is pretty good. Hops are ample with citrus and plenty of malt to support it. Medium bodied and solid.

I did’t like this IPA. I must say there is more English IPA in it than US. I prefer the US IPA.

Pours a golden almost orange color with a medium white head. The aroma is lightly grassy with s slightly biscuty aroma. The flavor is well balanced slightly herbal hop bitterness, there are light citrus flavors and a bit of caramel.

BPW #21 12 oz bottle picked up at FUBOB’s. Appearance is a clear gold with a small soapy white head. Mildly sweet hops with an ok hop flavor. Hop profile seems more English influenced then my preferred West Coast style. Very dry mouth. This IPA is not for me.

Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #20 of 90. Bottle Dan picked up at parti pak while out here (thanks). Pours dark orange/copper. Nose has some hop aroma mixed with minimal malt. Flavors relect the nose, it’s just a little weak in terms of the hop punch I’d like from an IPA. Decent, nothing spectacular.

Bottle. Active carbonation and lace turns quickly to almost flat. Very fruity, malt-centered aroma; low hoppinig. Fruity flavor with somewhat disordered malt and some bitterness. Not well balanced, lacks spunk, with a rather unpleasant finish. Doesn’t do it for me.
