Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

12 oz. bottle - thanks to goldtwins for the trade; pours clear and bright orange; nice white head and minor lacing; aromas of bitter, soapy hops; drinks crisp and bitter with fresh hop aftertaste; a straight up bitter IPA, but a decent one at that

Pours golden red with small, short-lived white head. Aroma sweet for an IPA with significant malt scents. Some citrus and probably also raisin. Tastes more IPA-bitter with citrus, but also some sweet caramel/bread. Balance is nice. Palate a little thin.

Aroma: unripe apples; LOVELY hop character, slightly soapy, nice apfelstrudel-malt but in no way too much (not too sweet), very sourish, fresh.
Flavour: nice, vanilla - malty raisin, vaguely chocolate malt balance, roasted, refreshing. Pretty dry.
Appearance: foggy deep orange body with paler yellow rinds. Yellowish irregular foam. Pretty.
Palate: sparkling wine, slightly lathery.

Bottle from Beerman6686. Thanks Daniel. Pours a amber color with little head and no lacing. Aromas of citrus, lime, pine, floral hops. A little sweet caramel and toffee too. Flavors of lemon/lime up front, with some floral hops, caramel, toffee, and light leafy herbal hops too. Bitterness is light to moderate. Mouth feel is smooth with a light peppery bitterness that lingers. I would like to try this on draught.

Bottle from goldtwins. Had this on draft a few times, but fist bottle i have tried. Pour is a clear golden orange with a big, fluffy head. Nice aroma of citrus and pine. Flavor is slightly bitter with a nice, full mouthfeel there. Decent malt backing, but hops dominate. Only detraction is a slight mettalic note. Good overall ipa.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a rocky, frothy white head. Smells very citric and piney, with spicy and sweet undertones. The taste is very mild. The bitter notes are subdued, but wonderfully floral and perfumy. There’s a great malt kick, and the yeast flavors are freaking perfect. I remember having this once before and not digging it, but this is great.
