Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

Bottle from Beerman6686. Thanks Daniel. Pours a amber color with little head and no lacing. Aromas of citrus, lime, pine, floral hops. A little sweet caramel and toffee too. Flavors of lemon/lime up front, with some floral hops, caramel, toffee, and light leafy herbal hops too. Bitterness is light to moderate. Mouth feel is smooth with a light peppery bitterness that lingers. I would like to try this on draught.

Bottle from goldtwins. Had this on draft a few times, but fist bottle i have tried. Pour is a clear golden orange with a big, fluffy head. Nice aroma of citrus and pine. Flavor is slightly bitter with a nice, full mouthfeel there. Decent malt backing, but hops dominate. Only detraction is a slight mettalic note. Good overall ipa.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a rocky, frothy white head. Smells very citric and piney, with spicy and sweet undertones. The taste is very mild. The bitter notes are subdued, but wonderfully floral and perfumy. There’s a great malt kick, and the yeast flavors are freaking perfect. I remember having this once before and not digging it, but this is great.

12 oz bottle, courtesy of my sis and bro-in-law. Pours a slightly hazy apricot shade with a creamy beige head. Excellent lacing. Big whack o’ Pac NW hops in the nose - the ususal grapefruit, lemon, some apricot, and a small but surprising bit of mint freshness in there as well. Starts of in the mouth with a sweetness that parlays into a bitter finish, but there is also a bit of malt toastiness/breadiness in there also, as well as a bit of minty astringency. A nice slight departure from the usual U.S. IPAs, and though not one of the best, it is refreshing and highly quaffable.

12 oz bottle, via goldtwins. Pours a clear dark gold, almost copper, body with a fluffy foamy light beige head that had excellent retention. Lots of intricate lacing remained on the glass. Pleasant citrusy hop nose with grapefruit and tangerine rind. Some slightly sweet smelling toasted maltiness also. Lots of bitterness in the flavor, but it seems lacking in brightness and crispness. The malt come out up front with a nice dry toasted character to it. Lingering bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation, a little stickiness on the finish. Overall, a decent drinkable IPA, would have preferred maybe a little less alcohol though.

12oz pour to a big, fluffy white head that fades quick but laces the whole way down. Very pale in color, almost light in color. Nice hoppy nose but malt still apparent. Awesome flavor that is way bigger than the light color would lead you to expect. Nice consistent body with just the right amount of hop flavor, not over the top. This is no hop bomb. It is a great American IPA. Perfectly balanced and would be a great session beer.
