Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

Redish amber with a small, white, fluffy head. Aroma piney and floral; light malt and light caramel. Flavor predominantly hoppy; touch of alcohol vapors. Medium body, medium carbonation. My kind of IPA.

Thanks to Beer_Hawk for sharing this beer. An aroma of light grapefruit. A coppery pour with a gray lacing. This beer looks like an IPA:) A sweet maltiness that is laced by the nice bitter of the hops. A piney flavor all over your tongue. A smooth easy palate that is full not thick. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 was the carbonation. A very good beer just a shade away from excellent.

Bottle. Poured orange with a thin white head that left light lacing. Classic IPA aromas of pine and grapefruit balanced out with a malt background. The flavor was big on the grapefruit side but with some malts and a light floral. Medium body and only a mild bitterness. Almost more of a sweet aftertaste. Decent none the less!

A very good IPA. The hops/malt combo are good...the pour was good...everything about the beer was good and on target...just not great or above target.

Not bad at all. Starts off with a decent balance of hops and malts, but tapers off quickly with a variety of hops. An interesting beer. Also had a littel citrusy flavor to it.

This is a hazy golden colored ale with a wispy, but lasting head. This my first SH brew to my knowledge. Spiciness dominates over floral in the hop department, with just enough malt to balance the beer out. Saratoga Springs does good job pasteurizing the many contract beers that are made there and this South Hampton IPA is one of the better brews I have ever tried from that brewery. The finish is earthy and woody, with a little bit of aged gouda.
