Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

12 oz. bottle via trade with shadey - Pours a golden color with a decent off white head. Light lacing. Has a light grassy hop aroma. Has a bitter hop bite up front with a tad bit of caramel malt in the background. Has kind of a dry, bitter finish. Light to medium body. A decent beer. Thanks Shane.

12 oz bottle courtesy of LeopoldStoch. This one actually had no smell what so ever. It’s possible that it did at one time, but not now. Pours nice enough, with a nice head, and a fair amount of lacing. Color is standard amber/copper. Nice flavor throughout, although I picked up a small metallic taste. Still a good IPA.

Bottle drank at the RFD with Ungstrup Golden color, nice head, lots of lacing. Nose of sweet citrusy hops, sweet full bodied malt and a light dry dusty note. The flavor is balanced, creamy and smooth. Light hop bitterness and a well blended tail that includes some caramel and grassey pines.

Bottle. Pours gold/light orange in color. Medium white head that leaves good lacing. Nice hop aroma, flowery, citrus and a little spice. A little bit of malt. Taste is lemony, spices with some decent malt. Medium body and bitterness. I enjoyed this one.

Bottle. Light straw color. Foamy white head. Hoppy nose with a sharp bitter flavor. Weaker finish but still a good bite to it.

Pours golden/copper with a small off-white head. Light aroma of piny hops with a small hint of some malt. Flavor crisp bitterness with some very underlying malt. Palate is crisp and bitter. Not great, but certainly not bad. A nice refresher.

22 oz. bottle. Hazy gold aporting a medium off white head with some fair lace as it settles to a thin white ring. Fresh hop aroams of citrus, pine, and spice take front row seats over some sublte honey and toffee notes. Lively effervescence compliments the medium body that is easy on the palate. Bitterness noted from the second it enters the mouth., although there is a discernible backbone of some light brown sugar and honey sweetness. Citrus peel and pepper further add to the mix. The finish is long and bitter, resulting in a refreshing and palate cleansing character.

Tap @ Barcade: Has a velvety mouthfeel, creamy body with a full flavor of sweet earthy maltyness and a strong grassy grapefuit hoppy finish. Not bad.
