Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

Nice aromatic citrus-bread. On the deep-golden side with a short white head. Refreshing, fresh, orange hop with medium bitters shapening like provo on the tongue leaving a modest bittersweet grapfreuit+orange finish.

Poured an amber with a well-lasting, but moderately sized head. The aroma was bit resinous and pithy hop character. This beer didn’t do it for me for some reason, much for tasting a lot like Weyerbacher Imperial IPA.

Bottle: Orange in color with a medium white head. Aroma, piney and resinous, a bit of citrus. Flavor, pine, a somewhat harsh bitterness. There isn’t much malt coming through the hops, which I normally wouldn’t complain about, but in this case the hop flavor really isn’t the best.

Bottle from Jimbowood. Pours a dark amber color with zero head. Nose was hoppy with a presence of piney resin but way to sweet and syrupy for an IPA IMHO.

Bottle. Aroma of citrus and pine a light caramel. Poured a golden orange hue. Flavor was about the same as the nose with a sweet malt background. Palate was smooth and easy. Overall good,it’s 100 degrees out and I’m thirsty.

The aroma is citrusy and the pour is golden with a white head. The flavor has some grapefruit notes and is rather mild for an ipa. The finish is moderate with little bitterness overall.

Thanks to jjpm74 for this brew. Pours a vibrant, crystal clear orange. Aroma is piney/citrusy hops with a little caramel peaking through. Flavor is nicely balanced with sweet malt up front followed by some piney, citrusy hops with a lingering bitterness. A very drinkable and thirst qunching beer. A solid IPA from SH.
