Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

From bottle. Pours a clear orange with fluffy white head. Nose is light citrus, as is the flavor. Well balanced malt. Not much going on, but good nonetheless.

This bottled brew poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a transparent light orange brown colored uncarbonated body and a good lacing. The aroma was mediumly hopped and malty. THe mouth fele was mildly hoppedfrom start to finish. The flavor was also on the mild side and full of maltyn notes. I expected more from this brew.

Light amber body, medium white head, PNW nose. Well-balanced, medium sweet, a little light for the style.

Cloudy golden hue with a large white head. Great pine bitter aroma, hops are very present. Good taste, but not as bitter as I’d like, good complexity thought. Clean ending.

Hazy orange color with a thick creamy white head. Sweet citrus hops aroma with a strong citrus hops flavor.

Bomber courtesy of Beerbeast: Pours a amberish color, with not too much interesting to say about the fairly standard head. Aroma is a little citrusy, fruity, malty sweet. Not too much specatacular about the flavor either. Some fruity flavors, a little sweet malts, some caramel, piney flavors and a couple of other I can’t quite plave.

Bottle, Publick House, Southampton. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, flowers), moderately yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. As with a few other selections from Southampton (most notably and consistently the Secret Ale), this was nearly dominated by raw vitamin B stink. Not that notable.
