Commercial Description:
IPAs are more highly hopped and a bit stronger than traditional pale ales. There are two distinct styles - English and American. English IPAs tend to be more subtle and a bit maltier while American IPAs have a bolder hop character.
Southampton brewmaster Phil Markowski has combined the best of both styles in his IPA. He’s crafted an ale with the bold citrusy hop character of an American IPA and the maltier, more refined flavor of an English IPA. Although the defining characteristic of Southampton IPA is balance, its incredible blend of three American and two British hop varieties is sure to please any hophead!

Meh... not too impressed with this one. I’m not sure if it’s becuase it’s old or just not that good to begin with. I had high hopes because of this brewer’s reputation and the fact that it’s hard to find anything by this brewer in Maryland. I’m going back to my 60min IPA for the rest of the night.

12oz bottle. Clear, pale orange color, white foamy head. A very nice perfume aroma, nicely inviting hop resin scent, nice florals and earthiness. Nice caramel malt aroma as well. Flavor is a sweet caramel malt, topped off with a bite of pine and grapefruit rind bitterness. Oh how I love to be reminded how much I love hops. This beer is so amazing. It is incredibly smooth. Extremely drinkable. A bit of stickiness in the body. I seems to be a well balanced blend of English style IPA and an American IPA. Nice crisp sharpness in the finish completes this excellent representation of this beer. American (East Coast IPA)

12 oz bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours a crisp, clean amber with a nice head and good lacing. Smell was a fain hop. I could smell hints of pine, citrus and some earthy tones. There was too much malt for an IPA, and the hops aren’t as apparent as they should have been. I did taste some of the classic IPA notes like citrus and pines. didn’t care too much for this one.

12 oz. bottle. Light amber color. Grassy, piney hop nose with edge of lemon-zest. Straightforwardly bitter flavor with a hop-bitter aftertaste. Caramel malts are a bit light in the ass. Body is a bit sticky. A good beer, very drinkable, but the aroma leaves me wanting.

Amber orange with a white head. Aroma is balanced with hops and caramel malts. Taste is nice and balanced with crisp citrus hops and caramel malts. Easy drinking and well made. Quality IPA.

Malt forward aroma, very caramely for an ipa. Fairly dark gold as well. Much more an ESB than an IPA. Creamy texture, earthy caramel, hint of hops in the finish.

Much maltier than most IPAs, but well balanced, delicious brew, looking forward to visiting the brewery this summer for some more!!

12oz bottle from Beer World (Largo, FL). Pours a slightly hazy dark orange to amber color with a thin white head that settles to nothing. Aroma is sweet and floral with notes of citrus, apricots, fresh flowers, caramel, honey, some hints of floral hops. Flavor is sweet and malty with similar notes of light citrus, apricots, spice, floral hops, caramel, honey, and some hints of honey and fruit. Generally light to medium body with a light malt finish. This bottle might have some age on it, so the hoppier notes may have diminished some.
