Spicy yeast and pepper/coriander aroma. Classic saison flavors, with a real showcase of the yeast strain. Nice phenolic character. Super dry finish, with an appropriate level of carbonation. Really quite good overall. thenick (746), North Bellmore, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Bomber. Pours a cloudy golden-orange color with a large, fluffy white head (this thing was LIVE). Aroma is citrus, coriander, vanilla, and a bit of yeast and other spices as well. Taste is the same, with a nice, sweet combination of the citrus, vanilla, and coriander, as well as the yeast and malt at the end. Very solid beer, and another great offering from Southampton. holdenn (1445), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2007 750 ml bottle thanks to John_Adam for this trade. Consumed at Andrew’s Bachelor party at the end of the night before we passed out. Pours a cloudy orange with a tall white head. Nose is creamy with citrus, spices, and yeast. Balanced flavors of sweet and dry with yeast, spice, orange and lemon citrus, and a wheaty creaminess. Very tasty I wish I was a bit more sober to drink this as a nightcap to many great beers. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 19, 2007 750ml. Cork pops with quite a loud pop. Head is humungous. I poured too fast and the head overflowed, the retention was so good that it stood a good inch or two above the rim of the glass and didn’t spill. Nice. Underneath the clouds of foam is a nice, hazy, light golden/yellow liquid with globs of floating yeast. Aroma is appetizing, fruity, cloves, yeasty, a little bit of wheat. Some peppery saison-esque qualities but they’re rather subdued. Taste is slightly acidic, thirst quenching, a little tart, highly citric. Pretty refreshing. One of the better American saisons. Can’t compete with Fantome but still good stuff. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 15, 2007 Pours a clouded gold with the most ridiculous head I have seen since I can’t remember. Almost 5 fingers. Nose is like smelling an angels wings. Sweet and smooth with a great yeast presence. Flavor is good, but seems to be a bit too short on the initial punch. Earthy flavor with a yeast and slight sugar presence. Very earthy overall. Straw seems to be there as well. Very rustic overall. Feel is smooth, even though there seems to be a huge amount of carbonation in there. Extremely drinkable. Side by side with a saison from the other side of the pond, I seriously doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference in a blind test. It’s just damn good. Enough said. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2007 Pours a hazy peach color with a thin white head. Very pleasant aroma of hay, hops, spices and farmhouse terroir. Very good flavor of farmhouse terroir, hay, hops, fruits and spices. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and expansive carbonation. Excellent, this is as good as the "regular" saison. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 10, 2007 750 ml. bottle. Cloudy gold pour with a foamy, large, and persistent white head, and a slippery lace. Wheat, yeast, earth, and citrus in a true to form Saison aroma. A lot of carbnation going on, maybe a little excessive, but otherwise quite smooth, with a medium body and a very nice mouthfeel. Somne light honey sweetness is offset by a pleasing acidic sourness, and some spicy bitterness that comes on right at the end. Overall, a very nice Saison, very drinkable and refreshing.
