Spicey yeasty smell with wheat, grass banana and a touch of alcohol. A delicate and smooth flavor and a champagne like acidic crispness in the finish. A cereal fruit spice and drying elemnt was there as well. fozapd (33), Burlington, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 18, 2007 The southampton Saison was a hopped up Saison that was very enjoyable. It was a slightly different take on the traditional Saison and it was very well done! I enjoyed the balance of spicy and fruity. There was hops and orange notes that balanced nicely. A well done belgium from a great brewery. swoopjones (1915), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Slightly foggy amber, very fluffy, active white head. Aroma is barnyard, citrus, and spice, some banana esters. Taste is mildly tart, alcohol shows up, followed by spice, and some fruit, some hops show up in the aftertaste. Body is spritzy. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2007 Poured A slightly orange, amber hue, its white head had great lacing. Aroma was a mix of banana, bread and some spice. Initially the flavor was fruity with mostly banana notes, but did have a slight citrus presence. A nice hoppy spice mixed with a grassy note in the finish. Carbonation seemed to be too much at times. Still a great beer. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2007 Updated: Jun 23, 2008Musty cement, tropical fruits, black pepper, lemon and hay in the nose. Opaque yellow-tan coloured body is topped by a generous and lasting, fine bubbled white head. Pineapple and mango fruity esters are musty with grassy, haylike hops and moderate bitterness. Spices are apparent in the aftertaste. Very dry medium body with expansive and engaging carbonation that is quite effervescent on the tongue and cheeks. Very active in the mouth. Bottle sampled with Oakes in Spring 2007. Resampled in Jun-08 chez MartinT with similar comments but somewhat lower score (6-4-7-4-14 is equal to 3.5). bridgetek (9), Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Looked great. Nice fruit aroma. Taste is complex with cloves and coriander among the citrus. Nice carboination, but somewhat unpleasant bitter aftertaste. Not worth the premium over other saisons in my opinion. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2007 right up there with any saison out there. nice citrus quality along with the usual spiciness and breadiness seemed over-carbonated in the bottle, lots of foam inside...yet when poured was carbonated perfectly. like another rater said...might not be worth paying more for than dupont for being right around the same quality
