cking (727), North Canton, Ohio, USA Aug 31, 2008 Dusseldorf style Ale, and a very nice one at that. Dark amber/brown pour with a lasting 1/2" thick head and strands of creamy lacing. Great malt nose with a hearty sweetness of nuts and roasted grain. Complimenting aromas of caramel and dark fruits add to the fine scent. Medium malt body with a pleasant sharpness and smooth finish. Toffee, baked bread, and caramel start off a good flavor, and are backed up by some mildly bitter hops and a faint fruitiness. I tasted some light smokiness that really added some depth. Very drinkable, this is a great beer to relax with. nuplastikk (428), Maryland, USA Aug 31, 2008 12oz bottle. Coppery brown color. Sweet malt dominates the flavor, with a nice faint hop balance. Creamy and rich, not unlike a good brown ale, but with a crisper taste. A great session beer, could fit right in on the Altstadt.
kmweaver (2015), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Aug 30, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of nuplastikk. Thanks, Greg! Pours a bright, clear golden-brown color; light-tan head with good retention and glistening, fine-bubbled lacing. Caramel and minerally hoppiness in the aroma; crisp. Medium mouthfeel: solid levels of carbonation; basic caramel, dried fruits, and mineral / citrus bitterness; touch of creamy doughiness appears; a nicely drinkable rendition, if straightforward. Medium finish: toasty malts, bread, and some mineral bitterness; nicely dry. alobar (630), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 29, 2008 Cloudy copper color with an off-white head. Mild malt aroma with limited lacing. Caramel flavor with some malt and hops. Seemed weak and unfinished. blankboy (2570), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 7, 2008 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy, quite bubbly, orange-amber with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma’s slightly sweet and fruity along with toasted grain, mild hops and caramel malt. Slightly watery flavour of caramel malt, grain, very light hops, a touch of toffee and a light but long bitter finish. Medium bodied, crisp mouthfeel. Nothing wrong with this, it’s easy to drink, it’s just lacking a little ’oomph’ or excitement -- still, for what it is it’s well done.
