Gregis (904), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Mar 17, 2008 Bomber courtesy of goldtwins and shared at csbosox’s tasting on 3/7/08. Thanks for sending this one, Larry. Pours a cloudy, dark straw with a thin, white cap and patchy lace. The nose is yeasty and lightly vegetal. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation and a mildly sour and spicy finish. Yeasty/spicy, soft and lightly fruity. This is a nice beer, but it’s not among my favorite tripels.
malrubius (417), USA Aug 28, 2008 22 ounce bottle split in Westmalle chalice. Golden orange with quickly disappearing big bubble head (and my glasses are perfect now. I use a bar cleaner triple brush and bar glass cleaner solution.) Nice spicy aroma with orange yeast and a little alcohol. Decent spicy honey tart orange sweetness with nicely balanced spicy hop dry finish. Medium body and carbo.. Some nice flavors in there but to assertive and not soft enough. The texture and fruitiness is too homebrew. Decent, but the best triples are extremely softly carbonated and very subtly fruity and spiced with effervescent vanilla sweetness (IMHO). Still, good. jbrus (4117), Delft, Netherlands Aug 26, 2008 Bottle@BlindTastingSession. Sweet aroma with tangerine, banana and dough. Yellow color, hazy, off-white head, fair lace. Very sweet, fruity sourness, light bitter, very fruity, light hoppy, sticky mouthfeel. Unbalanced and way too sweet. Poor attempt at creating a Tripel. omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 19, 2008 Bottled. Almost clear golden, minimal head.-´ Fruity glue aroma. Sweet and papery with medium body. Flavour of orange, wheat malt and glue, together with canned pineapple in syrup. Some late bitterness. A bold and cardboardy, rather lifeless tripel. saxo (2136), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Aug 2, 2008 Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden with yeast sediments. Aroma and taste are sweet banana, yeast and fruits. awaisanen (1137), Irvine, California, USA Jul 21, 2008 From a 22oz Bottle. Courtesy of Dickinsonbeer. Mostly hazy, brassy gold colored pour with a slender finger of fine bubbled white head. Reasonably carbonated, but certainly on the light side for a tripel. Aromas of wheat, honey, and banana phenols. The residual sweetness combines with the banana and some additional subtle peppery phenols to create a baked banana bread impression. Restrained alcohols and coriander herbalness. Medium light bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel. The carbonation level surprisingly high considering the appearance; white not overly effervescent, it melts quickly off the tongue, enhancing the relative lightness of the body. Flavors of pale malt sweetness and herbal coriander up front on the palate, followed by some mild lemon citrus characters. Toward the finish, some mild yeasty peppers kick up, but never really develop the complexity found in the nose. Finishes sweet, but light, with a lingering alcohol warmth. Thanks Paul!
