lb4lb (1453), Austin, Texas, USA Oct 2, 2008 Poured a pale yellow/golden color with a smallish white head. Smell was a bit lager like from the yeasty notes along with honey like malt and a touch of grassy hops which were nice. Taste was simple, clean, mostly and with mild sweet corn and honey noted malt and a light bittering moreso than your average macro brew. Mild lingering hop grassiness. Easy drinking, nothing too special though. fly (1247), austin, Tejas, USA Oct 2, 2008 Why?
I would love to leave my rating at that one word question, but will add that this brewery made a beer that was quite good and then from what I can understand, changed the recipe to make it closer to okay and now they introduce a sudsy, lack luster pilsner when there’s already far better to be had? Crap, I know it’s Texas, but it’s also 2008 and even that’s almost over. graham515 (306), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 7, 2008 Cheddar yellow is a nice way of putting the color of this beer. Aroma is very grainy and somewhat off. The flavor is a nice smooth malt sweetness with very little hops. Somewhat of a ho-hum brew. KAggie97 (1919), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2008 Tap at brewery. Pours a dense cheddar yellow with a light head. Aroma is corn and corn syrup. Flavor is an above average macro, with corn, weak hops, and retarded malt. Watery but average mouthfeel. The brewer admitted a temperature discrepancy during brewing and promised that the next batch would be more to a beer connoisseur’s liking.
