BeerZack (116), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 12, 2008 Pours a pale amber color thats slightly cloudy crowned by a spotty head that does leave some lace.
Whoa, the smell jumps right out at you. Smell is excellent. Big grapefruit impression with sweet light caramalts, woodsy hops and a bit of a weird, but nice, aged hop quality.
Sweet lightly toasted malts with a good balance of citrusy-flavored hops. Pretty fruity, grapefruit, orange with some graininess, especially on the finish.
This medium-light bodied APA is smooth and drinkable. The flavor doesn’t quite live up to the outstanding aroma, but this is good Texas beer... and it comes in a 16oz can!
Sparky27 (595), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 9, 2008 16oz can courtesy of DrHomolka. Pours a clear amber with a 2 finger foamy cream colored head with some spotty lacing. Nose is toffee and ripe citrus. Taste is caramel malt upfront with overripe tangerines dominating the flavor until some resin bite in the finish cleans it up. Lighter mouth feel. This is a good American Pale, and bonus points for the can. Thanks for sending this Dan! WeeHeavySD (1865), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 7, 2008 16oz can from thickfreakness, shared with my gf cyn. Pours deep orange with a big tan head. Nose is extremely flavorful with a lot of citrus. This goes right along with the taste that is very well defined and drinkable with a lot of character. jjpm74 (3110), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Oct 5, 2008 Can courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours a hazy copper with a thin white head. Smells of light citrus, some pine, caramel. Tastes of pine resin, some underlying sweet citrus, a touch of bitterness, some earthiness. Mouthfeel is full bodied. Enjoyable. Haslinger (549), Syracuse, New York, USA Sep 28, 2008 12 ounce can. Thanks Zinister. Incredible hops aroma. a bit of malt. Taste is absolutely superb lots of hops balanced out by the nice lingering malt. One of the best beers I have ever had from Texas.
Buy again kramer (1888), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 26, 2008 16 oz can, via bu11zeye. Pours a slightly hazy copper body with a nice frothy one inch light beige head. Pretty good retention. The nose is light floral hops and slightly grainy caramel maltiness. Pretty bitter given how light the hops were in the nose, it’s grassy and leafy with a little too much crystal malt going on that gives it that annoying stale iced teal like quality, especially on the finish. Fairly short finish. Mouthefeel is light bodied with a bit of a sticky crystal malt character that makes it not especially crisp. Moderate soft fizzy carbonation. Overall, a fairly forgettable APA, but not the worst.
