Southern Tier 422 Pale Wheat Ale

Pours a pale golden body with a thin white head. Cereal notes and hints of grain and light wheat characteristics. Thin body with some caramel malt.

Pours a clear, minimally hazy yellow/gold colour with a minimal, sudsy head that leaves some spotty lacing. The nose is bland, with corn, pale wheat, doughy bread, and a whisper of citrus. The flavour is about the same, grainy, and hardly any hop flavour at all, accept for a mild lemon zest. The emphasis here is really on the light bready flavours with an overtone on lemon. It does taste very fresh though, and it is extremely quaffable. I guess it achieves what it aims to do. The mouthfeel is slightly slick, perfectly carbonated and finishes almost as clean as Pilsner beers. I’ll be throwing quite a few of these back this summer it seems. Digging the pro-enviro concept!

12oz bottle from BOTW. Pours a light yellow color with some haze. Not a lot of head, but some tight white bubbles. Aroma is lightly citrus, mostly lemon. Nice easy to drink citrus flavor - the lemon makes this really refreshing and easy to drink. Great summer beer.

Pours slightly hazy, golden body with no head. Aroma is sweet lemon drop candy and lemon peel. Taste is resfreshing with a pleasant mouthfeel.

12oz bottle 5/10/09 (Binny’s Plainfield)-Pours a hazy yellow with a decent size white head. Aromas of wheat and a little citrus. Begins with wheat and grains then a bit of grass and it finishes with a bit of dryness. This light bodied brew is somewhat disappointing knowing who its coming from. Was expecting a lot more of this bland wheat ale.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Archer Liquors singles selection (Chicago, IL). Pours a hazy lemony straw, small bright white bubbly head that dissipates to a film clings a bit. Aromas are a bit musty, wheaty stink with lemon notes, light fruity esters, but the stink gets to me. That shouldn’t be a wheat ale. Initial is liht bodied, preaching some mild grainy and cereal qualities, a touch of hop floral and lemon. Grass and lemon, a touch of breadiness and cereal, but a bit bland overall. Lacks body even for the style. Dissappointing largely. A mediocre wheat ale.

6pack from wholefoods Bowery. Cool Eco concept brew. Pour is hazy yellow. Nose is of lemon drop and sugars. Taste is hoppy and of wheat. A solid and respectable wheat ale, very sessionable.

Bottle. Body is hazy & light gold with a thin white head. Aroma is mildly grassy with a touch of lemon and some wheat. Flavor is pointlessly thin wheat beer with grass and lemon. Otra cerveza... por favor!
