Caramel, plum, raisin, molasses, sweet bread, and some nutiness. A nice barleywine, I enjoyed it. Nothing that makes it really stand out though. kiefdog (1586), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 1, 2009 Bomber. Pours a dark, cola brown with a 1 finger off-white head that settles quickly. Aroma is sweet, malty, chocolate, ripe dark fruit, molasses, caramel, light floral esters. Flavor is also sweet and malty, chocolate, toffee, raisins, figs, and floral hops toward finish. Medium body with a malty and lightly hoppy finish. MrPickles (113), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 31, 2009 22 oz bottle. Reddish amber color with a small-medium head. Aroma is strong hops, dark fruit, and some malt. Flavor is so much better than I expected. I am much more of a malt than a hop fan. This one is VERY balanced. Flavors of bread, malt, molasses all come through with just a touch of hops to balance things out. nick76 (2648), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2009 The aroma is very rich with caramel, toffee, grass, butter, nuts, and toasted malt. The appearance is deep amber with a head that is appropriate for the style. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter and malty finish. The palate is smooth and thick. Overall this is just what you are looking for when you want a Barley Wine. thewolf (5725), Kolding, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours clear, dark ruby-red with a big, staying, creamy, beige head. Aroma has lots of hops, grapefruit, pine, raisins, light roasted, caramel, strawberries. Lowish carbonation, fine oily mouthfeel. Flavour has a tad sharp alcohol, fruity, raisins, roasted caramel. Long, lingering bitterness with pine, exotic fruits, quite sweet. Not cloying as there is a fine amount of hops in there. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2009 A small white head sits atop a deep red mahogany pour. Bubbles rise slowly, but are few and far between. Aroma is loaded with dark fruit, citrus hop, caramel, and a subtle roasted barley profile. A slight booziness is eclipsed by a fruity sweetness. Flavor is uber sweet, with an odd roast character and massve dark fruit note. Dark sugars abound- caramel and molasses prevail quite suitably. Hop character is less than the aroma might suggest, but still acts as an excellent mediator of flavors. Palate is thick, rich, sticky and smacking with a silky body and sugary finish. Like many Southern Tier offerings, this may borderline on cloying, but not quite... it’s really tastey. craftycarl21 (529), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2009 Mahogany pour with a small white head. Aroma holds a lot of dark fruit, with plum and raisin, brown sugar, citrus hop, caramel, some apricot, red grapes, and even a bit of roasted barley. Flavor is extremely sweet, with tons of dark fruit, candied sugars, caramel, molasses, and less hop than the aroma. Alcohol is hidden, but mostly by the heavy sweetness, rather than the complexity of the flavor. Palate is average for the style, nothing special. Still a tasty brew, but not in the top tier of American barleywines. kseecs16 (874), Naperville, Illinois, USA

Very sweet flavor is slightly cloying with a body of rich chocolatey malt and a dark chocolate lingering bitterness. Bitterness up front. Full bodied.
