This one has a nice sweet aroma with some malty and dark fruit undertones. Nicely carbonated, medium bodied. This one has a lot of flavor and it’s balanced. Sugary sweet with some caramel, plum, raisin and a little bit of spice. Hops are subdued but they have a nice bitterness that complements the sweetness but doesn’t overpower the dark fruit and malt. This is a really good brew. ElGaucho56 (390), USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Pours a lovely dark copper with minimal offwhite cap. Aroma is really something else: perfumy, tea-like, gentle herbal hop aromas with a well-balanced rich caramel sweetness. A little sticky but a bit thin overall on the palate, with mild roasted malt character followed by a very solid but not overwhelming rooty hop bitterness and a warming bitter liqueur note. Like a more reserved bigfoot. doubleo (1104), San Diego, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Deep brown appearance with a small, off white head and moderate lacing. Slowly developing, nicely balanced aroma of caramel malts playing off the citrusy, resinous hops. Earthy taste is fruity, malty and bittersweet. Notes of citrus, softer fruits, caramel, toffee, biscuits and whole grains. Full bodied mouthfeel with a decent amount of carbonation. Alcohol is noticable but not overwhelming. Long lasting finish. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Bottle, says first batch of 2008. Pours dark amber/brown with a medium, creamy tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel, some hops, a little peppery and some alcohol. Taste is more the same, maybe a little more burnt sugar taste, nice bitterness from the hops. Good alcohol presence, but this is very drinkable. Somewhat tame compared to some of the harsh BWs I have had. Good stuff. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Aroma of peppery caramel, cinnamon, and light alcohol. Very sweet, cinnamon apple like taste at first. Caramel in there also with a nice creamy body. Very smooth drink with only a little alcohol taste at the finish which is also dry and sweet. Tasty. Vas19 (299), Maryland, USA
