A modest PNW-style barleywine, definitely hop forward in the aggressive American style. Just a bit of nuttiness in there, almost as a nod to English style, and some malt, but basically a hop bomb that’s too hot and sticky to be really distinctive. Well made, but not really to my taste. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 4, 2007 Poured a mostly clear amber color with a ruby tint. Full fruity malt aroma. Moderate amount of hops come through. Citrus and earthy with some alcohol. The flavor was malty with some fruitiness. Mild to moderate bitterness, Lightly sweet finish. The alcohol is pretty well hidden. Radek Kliber (3942), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance :Ruby, clear ale with good creamy / porous top. Decent lace left behind. Nose :Fine refined alcohol, some roast notes. Smooth and clean , malty.7+ Flavour/Palate : Clean medium , full bodied ale. Solid malt base . Surprisingly refined for such potent brew . Sweet fruity aftertaste. At 10 % felt more like mid 8s.Neat prime example of this style. It’s more a bout clean alcohol paired with grain than hops.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2007 Bottle. Dark mahogany brown body with a small fluffy beige head. (4+) Aroma of alcohol and hops, and underlying sweet malt, hints of brown sugar. (7+) Soft hoppy bitterness up front coasts the mouth with a lingering warming alcohol residue that allows the sweet brown sugary malt middle to quietly sneak past. Hints at dark fruit (briefly) and dark sugar. Smooth medium palate feels a touch heavier than it would with more carbonation, but is nice the way it is. This was quite nice. A very solid, malt forward barley wine. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2007 22. Thanks, GoldTwins! Pours a gorgeous clear deeply rubied mahogany with a thick, surging, moussy tan head that falls quickly away to film. Leaves nice sedimentary rings of lace on its way down. Sweet and sugary nose; caramel and dark tree fruit. Thick but very drinkable and finished body; nice soft carb and not a hint of rawness. Mid-palate’s a roiling stew of malt sugars: caramel, dates, brown bread, black bread, just a smash-em-up derby of grainy delights. I honestly think I should have laid this one down a while longer, but I’m not regretting for a second the pleasures of drinking it now (I think it’s less than a year old). Nice sticky roast caramel nougat finish. Good stuff. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 27, 2007 22oz bottle-pours a foamy light tan head and dark copper/mahogany color. This is the best smelling Barleywine I can remember. Aroma is northwest hops-citrus/pine, medium malt-molasses/chocolate. Taste is right in line with the stronger side of the style northwest hops-citrus/pine/ resin/very bitter, medium malt-molasses/chocolate, dark fruit, plastic, alcohol. OK carbonation. Also could be an I2PA/American Strong Ale then saw on label- an imperial barleywine. Nice hop profile, but total beer not my taste. miketd (679), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Pours dark brown, almost non existant white head. Smells roasty and hot with some hops present. Flavor is boozy with some caramel. Quite bitter. Medium bodied. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2007 Dark purple pour, small white head. Aroma is dark berries. Flavor is caramel, berries, chocolate, and a touch of roasted malt. Caramel lingers in the aftertatse bigtime. Lots of fresh leafy hops but low on bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel with some smoke in the finish as well.
