The aroma is just mildly sugar and doesn’t hint at the nice robust flavors underneath. This drinks with a thick, woodsy character, like a forest in a glass -- brown sugar, pine, caramel. Quite nice. Sweetish oxidized aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Full-bodied, sweetish caramel and overrripe fruit. Subdued bitterness. ARoma was a nice balance of caramel and citrus/floral hops. Flavor followed floral was the most Caramel held the brew in check. Was a little sticky. Good brew
darkguardian (506), Florida, USA May 13, 2009 22oz bomber from Ryan at Funky Buddha. Nose is mild but has bits of citrus with alot of yeastiness and caramel malt. The hops in the nose are fairly hidden underneath the intense layers of malt. Complex caramel, fig, prune, and a dash of citrus from the hops but with no hop bitterness. Alcohol very well hidden. This is a very tasty english style barley wine with a bit of an american twist with the hop aromatics. Very well done. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA May 8, 2009 Daytona 500 tasting. Bomber. Clear dark amber with an off white head. Sweet caramel and bread nose, lightly toasty, earthy. Medium full body, decent lace. Pours a clear ruby orange to brown with a thin white beige head. Plums and prunes, dark fruits, chocolate, and a really big pile of hops. Flavors are similar, dark stone fruit, and malt. Finishes with a nice bit of citrus hops. Really nice hoppy finish with no big alcohol visible.
