No freshness date seen, but none needed at this high an ABV either. Columbus hops assault your nose as soon as it’s opened. Poured out a deep amber color, sticky tan head, exceptional clarity. It has to be filtered. Too bad, because that means it won’t age worth a shit. Better drink it young. Aromas include Columbus hops, sweet malts, some yeast. Flavors are of sweet malts, burnt sugars, hops.
Medium mouthfeel, average for a Barleywine. No burning alcohols, bonus points for that. Finished well balanced, which surprised me entirely.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2007 This is a barley that I enjoyed. Dark reddish brown - thin head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and booze. Palate is very sweet, syrupy thick. And I like that they balance it more than some with the hops. obguthr (1055), Poquoson, Virginia, USA

Easy drinking and intense at the same time. I don’t know how the hell they do it. Masterfully done! bigrond (1054), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
