| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Pours a ruby brown color with a pretty thin white head that leaves a good lacing behind on the glass. Aroma is very strong and hits the nose as you open it and once pours, fills the room. Lots of grassy and floral hop notes, some molasses/brown sugar hints and a light, sweet malt character are present in the aroma. Flavor is grassy bitter up front moving into a slight citrus hops flavor quickly moving into a pretty toasted malt flavor, similar to a red, and finishes with a very nice taste bud puckering semi-pine bitterness. Density of the beer is pretty good and seems lighter than what it is measured at but still a great level for the style. Overall this barley wine was pretty good for the price (paid 5.50 for a 24oz bottle) but I enjoy some of their other beers much more than this one. PJClarke (717), London, Greater London, England

Candy and intense malt with Brandy heat and fat buttery roundness. Very heady and too sweet in my opinion. Pretty awesome but quite there. arrogantb (715), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 4, 2009 Got this bomber in a recent trade with kirok1999. The bottle says it was the first beer of 2007 so it must be about a year old now. Dark red color that is almost brown but not quite. The flavor smells great, hoppy, toffee, West Coast. The flavor follows up with a chewy, hop-laden taste. Lots of hops in this one and that is how I like it. Given how good this tastes now I bet a couple years will treat this beer well. Best beer I have had from Southern Tier but I’m biased toward barleywines.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2008 (bottle thanks Lawstudent) Pours reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is really strong on hops and smells more like a double IPA, with some strong caramel lurking in the background. Taste is sweet caramel with not as much hops as the aroma would hint at. Pretty well balanced, with a medium mouthfeel. Pretty good barleywine. demitriustown (708), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 6, 2008 Bomber after shoveling a bunch of snow of my driveway. 07 version via trade a while ago with Jah Noth! (Thank You!) Aroma is wonderful with a nice roasted nut and caramel overtone, a bit of fruity hoppiness, and some raisins and prunes to round out this awesome aroma. Pours a clear ruby color with a two finger thick head that lingers around for a while. Taste is malty with dark fruit intermingled. A lot of stuff going on in the taste of this brew. Smoothing going down and deceptively drinkable. Overall, A darn good barley wine with about a year of age on it. Nice! JasonG (701), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Aroma is full of lightly toasted caramel, bit of apricot, orangel peel, cream. Flavor is malty, fair amount of herbal hops and light caramel, bit of metallic off notes, with a balanced finish. miketd (685), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Smells roasty and hot with some hops present. Flavor is boozy with some caramel. Quite bitter. Medium bodied. Haslinger (666), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 18, 2008 22 ounce bottle, damn this beer smells good. It immediately grabs your senses with a rich aroma of hops. The color is a beautiful reddish once held up to some light. The taste is more malty than hoppy, but the hops are definitely present. It’s has a sweet malt taste but there is some alcohol as well. This is a solid barley wine. Southern Tier once again does not disappoint. Would buy again
