Jul 6, 2009 A Mes rate. Bottle at the Weekend of Tarts After Tasting.
Dark amber with a good off white head. Really good hoppy stuff. Very fruity, lots of lychee and pine plus a good hit of tropical fruit. Lasting bitter finish. Really drinkable for the abv. Can’t help but like Southern Tier.

Apr 9, 2007 Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a slight red glow. The head is ever so slight in the tan range. I gathered a good smell of floral hops and some toffee in there. As I began to drank, I noticed that this thing feels thick and syrupy... not a bad thing. The taste was exactly like them smell, with the toffee being up in the foreground while the floral hops didn’t come out until the aftertaste. As I continued drinking, this thing started to have a piney feel to it as well. Not exceptional, but good overall.

Dec 24, 2007 NorCal December ’07 - Another fine beer from the guys at Southern Tier. This time they deliver in the style of barleywine, a beer near and dear to me. I never can get enough of this style of beer, so when the opportunity is there to have a new one I savour it. The beer pours out a deep garnet red, clear with a nice one-finger thick head. Aromas are apples, caramel, grapefruity hops and a touch of molasses. Flavor profile is pretty much on par with the nose. Caramel, vanilla, toffee, light fleshy fruits and a bit of hops. Excellent barleywine. Hope to have this one again.

Dec 7, 2008 Bottle Pours out a nice amber topped with a sand head. Aroma of sweetness O yes caramel along with some fruit. Tast more of the sweetness all over this one. Alittle hops just to round it out. Vert tasty. I keep saying this but can Southern Tier make a bad Beer??? I have not had one yet.

Feb 5, 2008 A deep ruby reddish pour. Aroma of dried fruit and hints of abv. Malty dried fruit and good finishing bitter with lingering tones of the abv. Full solid mouthfeel and carbonation is good as well. All round good barley wine.

Apr 7, 2007 On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Enjoyed this with Dan from Pizza Plant. Not ususally a big fan of BW’s but this I liked. Syrupy & sweet with a nice hop backbone. Similar to Bigfoot but not as complex. well done

Sep 30, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a completely hazed ruby brown with a small beige ring. Nose was mostly toasted and caramel malts with some pine and booze. Flavor was again very sweet and malty with a light hop bite. Finish was sweet and a lot less bitter than expected.....a great Barley Wine.

Dec 7, 2008 Pours a reddish color without hardly any head, what is there is small and off white. Nose: banana, hoppy citrus, booze. Taste is malty, citrus, brown sugar, with a thick mouthfeel.
