May 24, 2009 NIce dark caramel brown with a lovely fluffy head. This beer looks extremely good. I am very impressed. Picked this one up at Five Points Bottle Shop in Athens, Georgia. Aromatic alcohol malt aroma, with a nice sweet malt aroma. Very sweet taste as well. Not very hoppy at the beginning but then it develops into a hoppy taste, but not a very hoppy taste. This isn’t a "mean" barley wine. It doesn’t have that hoppy taste I was hoping for. Overall, the malts are awesome, and the aroma is awesome as well, but the hops are lacking. Pretty good brew.

Jun 9, 2008 Bottle shared with Ian. Pours a reddish brown with a thick tan head. Big beautiful aroma of citrusy hops and malty caramel. Taste is thick and hoppy, very big malt profile, but not over the top. I don’t know how aged the bottle was, but there was a subtlety of the hops and malt that was very nice.

Nov 30, 2007 pours a dark reddish copper with a tan head. aroma is malt-city with notes of caramel, toffee, and alcohol. taste is sweet malt, dark fruit, and a little alcohol. bubbly mouthfeel. nice BW.

Apr 23, 2009 Rum raisin and toasty aroma, makes me wonder why I never make french toast with raisin bread. anyway. Deep ruby red, marshmallow head. More marshmallow, though this time in the sip, golden and roasted. Some wood and honey in the finish, creamy texture.

May 3, 2009 Pours a brownish bronze with a smallish, pillowy, off-white head. Smells really nice. Certainly on the hoppy side for a barley wine, and potent - pale, resiny hops dominate the brew, with caramel malts and dried fruits (raisins, dates) balancing. The flavor is a little weak up front, but sneaks up on you fast. Low carbonation makes it a bit lifeless, but there’s definitely an alcohol burn. Full body, slightly sticky mouthfeel, and a dry finish. Good. But as has become the norm for ST, not anything worth writing home about. I do like their labels, though...

Apr 23, 2009 Bottled. Slight hazy redbrown color, short head. Aroma of caramel malt, fruit, barley, heavy hop, bit sugar. Sweet taste, malty, quite bitter. Bit sweet barley wine.

Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Rich malt aroma with resin. Dark amber color with a white smear for head. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is sugar, roasted malt, and some hop bitter - not able to detect type though. Finish is sweet, but not overly so. There’s enough bitter to say almost balanced. Very smooth, very tasty.

Apr 20, 2008 Pours a deep copper brown with aSmall off white head. Aroma is moderately sweet grape, caramel, cherry, date and grapefruit. Flavor is sweet caramel, grape, grapefruit, piney and some dough. Full body, sticky texture. Finishes very long and bitter.
