| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 16, 2009 Pours a nice bright copper with a fairly tall reddish tan head that has decent retention. Aroma is lots of caramel, sweet toast, wood, a little citrus, dried dates, and some light berry like fruit. Flavor is sweet, toasty, strawberry, toasy malt and nuts, light caramel malt. Citrus hops, herbal hops, straw and grassy hops round out the profile. Kind of strange for an ASA or Red/ Amber as far as body goes, thick and oily without much stickiness with an alcohol warmth. Finish is grainy and citrus with a sweet nutty fade. Only the second brew I have had from Southern Tier (both in their Imperial line) neither very good for their style. Not a good sign. carl4beer (401), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Bottle at Sune’s - from Me. Clear amber - white head. Cookies, toasted, knækbrød (swedish flatbread), high hoppy, grass, pine, sweet malty, caramel, dry hay, straw. Nice and pleasant. Braudog (3767), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2009 This poured amber and clean with an average head. The beer drinks big and chewy, with a nutty maltiness and a stark bitter finisht. This was an interesting Frankenstein of a big malty beer. (#3481, 11/2008)

Good hop aroma, good red amber color, good balance flavor with a lingering hop dryness at the end. Good overall, needs less dry hop aftertaste. carruthm (1141), Seattle, Washington, USA

lively malt aroma, pour is ruby brown with a thin but dense off white head sitting on top. Nose reminds me of a belgian abbey with brown sugar, caramel, fig, light bread. taste is medium bitter and lightly sweet, palate is thin and watery with lively carbonation and a lingering bitterness. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 29, 2008 Pours a medium amber red orange. Aroma is a deep malty sweet brown sugar. The flavor is a dry roasty caramel, apricot, and brown sugar. Very hoppy and dry. Nice candied citrus fruit character. Decent body, but pretty average for most Impy Reds that I have had. moelikebeer (220), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Bottle. Clear, amber pour with little head. Aroma is a nice balance of sweet malt and some floral and citrus hoppiness. Rich flavor; bitter hops really come through. Some maltiness and only a slight alchol flavor.
