Commercial Description:
Inspiration can sometimes be found in the strangest of places. This eccentric brew started with a single flower from a hop named Hallertau. The delicate and spicy aroma present in the flower has been responsible for generations of great beers. Hallertau hops are to a brewer what an old tractor is to a farmer: reliable. Big Red expresses the nobility of Hallertau by placing it at the forefront of this Imperial Ale. Pour it into a snifter. A swirl allows the spicy aromas to come forward as a taste to the lips reveals the complex balance between sweet malts and the bitterness of hops. Big Red’s ability to please is as dependable as your grandpa’s old tractor. Please consume wisely.

Clear orange-red pour with a thin white head. Citrusy hops aroma. Lots of bitter hops on the flavor with some roast and lots of fruit. Pretty good.

Pours a coppery orange. Aroma of spicy hops and sweet malt. Flavor is bitter hops, caramel sweetness, and a little wet grain.

22oz bottle. Light amber color with a small off white head. Earthy, floral hop aromatics with a sweet nutty malt underpinning. Ruddy, toasty, and caramel malt flavors. Tinges of honey. Acrid, spicy, and floral hop characters manifest. Lingering vegetal spicy hops in the finish, with a grainy character. Mouthfeel is a slightly heavy medium, somewhat dry.

Could it be a mere mortal beer from southern tier? it is. not a bad beer but not really deserving of the imperial label. I would not buy again as it is not worth the price.

Clear orange red with good head. Smell is sweet and honey mixed with some light hops. Flavor is honey, caramel and sweet hops. Mouthfeel is nice - smooth and enjoyable. Drinkable but I would just like some more flavor overall.

LCBO lists this at 8%. Good malt nose with lots of citrus notes, light copper, pours a small tan head. Flavour has caramel, malt and full on orange. Medium bodied, balanced, sweet, with a pleasing bitterness. Top shelf!

22 ounce bottle. Pours dark copper with a eggshell white head. Good lace. The nose is toasted biscuit malt with some caramel notes and hop spice. Rich toasted flavor. There’s an underlying herbal spice hop character. Medium body with prickly carbonation. Dry finish. I think you could slip this under Irish Red and most folks would not be able to tell.

Appearance: Pours a clear, amber body with a small white head. Smell: Full scent of spicy, floral hops and underneath are some toasty, caramelly malts. Taste: Toasted grains with some caramel sweetness and even a tiny hint of dry chocolate starts things off. A tiny handful of discarded peanut shells. Flavorful floral, spicy hop character but only around a medium-high level of bitterness. Finishes dry and lightly woodsy with a bit of mintiness in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: I liked it! Tasty and reasonably well balanced with the alcohol so well integrated that you almost begin to think the 9.5% abv is a dubious claim.
