Commercial Description:
Inspiration can sometimes be found in the strangest of places. This eccentric brew started with a single flower from a hop named Hallertau. The delicate and spicy aroma present in the flower has been responsible for generations of great beers. Hallertau hops are to a brewer what an old tractor is to a farmer: reliable. Big Red expresses the nobility of Hallertau by placing it at the forefront of this Imperial Ale. Pour it into a snifter. A swirl allows the spicy aromas to come forward as a taste to the lips reveals the complex balance between sweet malts and the bitterness of hops. Big Red’s ability to please is as dependable as your grandpa’s old tractor. Please consume wisely.

22 oz. bottle. A clear copper pour with a thick light-tan head. A subtle floral aroma with hints of caramel and pepper. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced. Lots of caramel and roasty qualities throughout. Starts with a good deal of sweet caramel and finishes with a hoppy bitterness. The 9.5% ABV is very well-hidden.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades slowly, leaving a good lace. Clear red/amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Slight hoppy nose. Flavor is some caramel but really balanced with slight bitter finish. High ABV is completely hidden. $7.25 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma. The plastic label comes off in tiny pieces if it gets wet.

2008 Flour City Brewfest. Pours a golden amber with a nice white head. The aroma is sweet and a hint of hops. Taste is a little sour but not overpowering. It was also sweet and sugary. A full bodied ale.

Bottle. Translucent copper with a tall foamy, sturdy off-white head. Nose is piney hops, citrus fruits, soft caramel, chewy malts, some spiciness and nuttiness. Taste is strong spicy hops, chewy caramel, sweet malt notes, citrus fruits and oils, light pine and nutty flavors. Body is creamy with a medium overall feel. Ends with more spicy hops, some floral notes, citrus oils, pine, caramel, sweet malts and raw nuts. Not bad at all!

Aroma of some light citrus and earthy hoppiness. Flavor was pretty aggressive hoppiness and a really solid bitterness. THere was a decent caramel flavor and maltiness. Not bad at all. Really easy to drink overall but a little aggresive i though.
