tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 2, 2009 Strong and sweet cherry in the nose is quite overpowering. Lightly hazy, oily golden body is topped by a shy white, large bubbled head that recedes rapidly to a thin partial cover. Cherry is also strong in the flavour but here the bitterness and some oak character are also apparent, however I don’t find that it blends together all that well. Some sourness in the aftertaste. Medium body is a bit slick in texture but good effervescence livens it up a bit. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in Oct-09. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Nov 2, 2009 Bottled. Hazy golden color, short head. Aroma is slight hoppy, little cheesy, hint of barnyard, but all overwhelmed by a horrible artificial cherry sweet aroma. Awful combination. Taste is of artificial sweetener, marzipan. Please get rid of the cherries, then it might actually be a reasonable beer. Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland Nov 2, 2009 Bottle @ Kloneo. Clear golden colour, off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, marzipan, cherry. Flavour is yeast, artificial cherry, citrus. Heavy carbonated. corby112 (670), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2009 Pours a hazy golden orange color with a thick 1.5 finger frothy off-white head with good retention slowly fading into a lasting ring. Minimal lacing.
Very fruity cherry aroma with some slight earthy oak tartness. Slight crisp fruit and strong alcohol presence.
Earthy oak flavor with a decnt amount of vanilla and a lot of sweet cherry and cherry juice flavor. Hints of candy sugar and subtle bitter hops. Pretty carbonated up front with sour oak and cherry sweetness. Hoppy bitter dry and slightly sour finish.
skortila (2875), Bunnik, Netherlands Oct 29, 2009 Bottled. Aroma has cherries, citrus, marzipan and some yeast. Bit hazy, golden coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste was sweet, was a bit citric and has the marzipan cherries again. Medium bodied beer. Not my thing. nick76 (2632), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2009 The appearance is golden with a slight orange tint to it. The head is average for the style. The aroma is chemical with burnt plastic and yeast. There is some malt and a bit of cherries. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth but nothing special. Overall this beer is hardly better than an average beer. Goodgrief (1143), Middletown, Delaware, USA Oct 18, 2009 Not as bad as some notice as the cherry flavor was somewhat subdued. The underlying saison was not horrible. The cherry flavoring, while not overwhelming, was kinda artificial in taste. Good, but no need to seek out, really. JoeTheYounger (214), California, USA Oct 13, 2009 Bottle from some random dude at Lost Abbey (pre-stone 143th anniversary party). I was kinda wasted but trying to remember. It was a golden clear color with small head. Flavor was mildly sweet from the cherries with a dry finish. I thought it was very enjoyable.
