Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

Orange pour with light, fizzy white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, and the lightest bit of cherry funk. Flavor is oaky, kind of off, with a bit of medicinal cherry. Very fizzy carbonation. It’s kind of old, so I’ll give them that. I’ll try it fresh and rerate. Maybe.

Bottle at Chancey Smith’s in London, ON- Sparkling gold with a frothy white cap. Some lace and retention. I thought this might be pink due to the cherries. Nose of oak and yeasty funk, some straw, a bit of fruitiness. Not as in your face as I suspected. Tastes of fruit, though I don’t know if it is cherry. Some woody oaky flavours meet yeasty wheaty floral spiciness. Prickly carbonation makes the finish a bit sharp. Good.

Nice cloudy amber. Aroma of oak and bread. Flavor is a bit sour with the vanilla oak followed by bitter hops. Dry finish. Very good. Cherries are hardly noticed.

Copying from tasting notes. Bottle from jessup plaza. Poured a golden color with a nice white head. Aroma was of faint cherry and lots of earthy notes. Taste was of lots of grass, hops and very light cherry. Not a bad flavor at all. Nice and different.

Bottle courtesy of cbkschubert. Some sweet grain aroma along with some oak. Golden body with white head. At first good fruity zesty pepper bitterness which was quite refreshing. Second glass from bottle was heavier textured malt with sour oak flavor with a dose of alcohol. Good Brew thanks Craig.

650ml bottle from a group consignment order, because the LCBO sucks way too much and is too pathetically incompetent of a system to ever stop and think maybe some people would be interested in a saison of any sort. Those jerks. Anyways, pours a hazy gold with very fine carbonation. The aroma is pretty nice, a hint of oak with Brett characteristics shining through, maybe a subtle touch of cherry, alcohol and the obligatory indistinct Southern Tier sweetness. Smells really good actually. Flavour is nice and somewhat complex. Musty Brett is definitely there leaving a dry feeling on the palate after a hit of booze and malty sweetness. Very yeasty which is something I enjoy greatly. Again, if you really stretch your imagination there’s a bit of cherry but really not much, as well as some sublte spice, consistent with what you’d expect out of a good Belgian Wit. Very sweet but not cloyingly so, and the alcohol is noticeable but I still find this one very drinkable. The more I drink the more I notice the Belgian candi sugar, as well as some honey. I’m starting to really appreciate Brett funk so this is a nice one to have. Everything seems to blend nicely together without anything over-powering the other elements, and I can appreciate that.

Rating number 750, thanks to Tupalev for snagging this for me in a private order. Appearance: Slightly hazy, yellow with a nice frothy head. Aroma: Wheat, cherry (although I may be imagining it!), lemons, malt, slight leather, some alcohol. Flavour: yeast and wheat, some spiciness, alcohol, the cherries are certainly there but very vague, nice long bitter finish. Not bad at all.

Bomber. Pours yellow with fizzy white head, 1 finger, dissipating to nothing but film. High carb. Nose is cherry and bready with mild rubbing alcohol. Fake cherry taste with extremely dry finish, astringently bitter, mild chocolaty-woody flavor there too. Just, not that good.
