Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden/bronze with a off-white head and some lace. Aroma of cherries, wheat, floral notes and has a hint of some spices. Flavor is medium bodied with cherries, yeast, pale malts, fruit and peppery spices with soft carbonation and a light bitterness.

650mL bottle. Surprised that this is actually a saison. Pours a deep hazy orange body. Slight cherry aroma - not overdone. Taste is slight fruit, but way more bitter than I expected.

Bottle. Pours a very lager-like gold color. Smell was yeast, with a hint of cherry. Flavor was similar - typical saison like flavors, albeit very sweet, with a hint of cherry. Not bad.

Small sample at ElGaucho*s on 11-17-08. Pours pale gold with a slight haze and a small amount of nearly white head. Aroma features maraschino cherry and orange. Taste of a dry, standard saison with a hint of cherry. Crisp and refreshing in the palate.

Bottle from West Lakeview. My personal opinion is that if a bottle says Cherry Saison it should at least taste like one of those things. This one didnt conform to that view. Wispy pink color leads to rather bitter fruit notes in the aroma and flavor. The saison part tasted rotten and grainy.

Peppery hot alcohol runs roughshod over the chalky oak and subtle cherry. Huge presence of Belgian yeast in both taste and aroma. A disappointment.

Dark straw color, thin broken white head. Very grainy aroma, clove, no real cherry apparent. General grain taste, sweet back end, no real cherry on taste either. Not much of a saison either.

Poured with little vigor producing a wisp of head. Aroma of light spice, subtle cherry. Rating by style, it should score higher. Each element was nuanced, from cherry to oak to spice/sweetness in the finish.
