Commercial Description:
Cherry saison is concurrent with the best of summer weather. The days are long and warm, and the spring blossoms have gracefully turned to plump drupes. Much in the same way, our Imperial Cherry Saison undergoes subtle but noticable changes while cruising from kettle to bright tank. Like the sun ripening fruit, a pit stop makes this beer better. Cherry Saison is aged with French Oak staves, imparting overtones of spice and balancing the natural sweetness of the cherries. Cherry Saison is the first in this series to incorporate oak aging. Enjoy it as a dessert beer, or tilt it back while sitting under a shady tree on a warm summer afternoon.

Some cherry on the aromas of this yellow/orange pour. More cherry on the flavor, and touches of spice. Pretty good

tried at Another Santee Sampling. this time at toncatcher’s house. Yellow, offwhite head. Dryish with a hint of tart. No cherry aroma, which is surprizing for Southern Tier, which usually produces beers with crazy strong aromas. Not bad.

9/20/2008 tasting at toncatchers house, with whetheral, weeheavy, fordest, alohac, and Jason. Thanks for all the great beers and good times. This was a nice little break from the overpowering flavorful beers. Nice cherry and spice combination.

Southern Tier Cherry Saison is a pretty clear, sparkling and golden with a bubbly white head that fades to a bubbly white film. The aroma is of cherry and oak. It smells lively and fresh. It is very smooth; medium bodied with a slightly syrupy finish. There is lots of oak in the flavor, with notes of black pepper, orange peel, curacao and leather. It is very complex and well balanced. The aftertaste is all oak-- amost like bourbon. It’s very satisfying. The cherry is very subtle. It’s a very wooden taste. It’s more like cherry furniture. It’s bold and unique, as I’ve come to expect from Southern Tier. I really like this beer.

Bottle via trade with tytoanderso. Pours a light golden to yellow hazy color with a nice white head. Aroma of cherries malts yeasts and spices. Flavor is light cherry funky fruity yeasty esthery saison goodness, some breadyness and some nice hop bittering in the finish. Good brew.

Bottle courtesy of Rustychiles. Pours a very murky orange/yellow (really expected red/pink?). No head to speak of. Aroma is muted somewhat, but some pilsener, wheat, and very faint cherries come through. Very nice taste. Bitterness is a little high compared to other saisons, but the taste is very good. The faint cherries and oak add some nice additional complexity.
